Check this out: http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/Article_Page.aspx?Ar ticleID=4858&Page=1 An "Adventure Tourer" with streetbike sized wheels and an underslung exhaust. How come nobody else ever thought of this idea? |

You know, I was planning on getting my wife one of the Ninja 650R's in the next year or so. Maybe, I'll have to get her one of these. We could paint it orange and call it the baby Uly. |

Doesn't look like they're gunning for the Uly but rather for the V-strom. The Ninja 650 got lackluster reviews when compared to the SV650 so maybe they've got a huge shelf of engines laying around. |

Vstrom is uglier. I love the uly but its the ugliest current model buell. All of the "Adventure Tourer/Sports" seem to have a little ugly in them. It all seemed to start with the ugly BMW. |

I love the looks of the Uly and the Beemer. I'm not a fan of the KTM, and deffinately not that new Kawi. I'm indifferent on the V-strom. |

Doesnt matter what they look like, if they dont have the LIGHTs to run off pavement in the middle of the night. Who is testing these "adventure" bikes anyways?!?! |

With Kaw and Suzuki already one and the same I dont think they're gunnin for the V strom. I think its just another entry into dual purpose bikes. Unfortunately they dont have the capabilities the Uly has. Its way more comfy and has all the power you'll ever need. When Erik and company came up with the Uly alot of people stood up and took notice. Not only can you actually take it offroad but it makes a great everyday transport. If you want to go across the country its up for it. I think Buell should be flattered by all the copy cats. |

I like it but it there are 3 major problems: 1. it has water cooling 2. it has a chain 3. it's missing at least 500cc's of displacement. Ugly is in the eyes of the beholder. |

that thing is hidious! as far as these adventure tour bikes i think they are all ugly but i must say the buell is the best looking i guess as well as the best one out of all of them in the all around sence. I have seen a few magizine articals since the uly came out that compared the adventure bikes and the uly usually comes out on top. |

I think the term "Adventure Tourer" is over used. Most of the adventure tour bikes are really just great rough road bikes. How many bikes do you think would have survived Long Way Around? In "stock" form, I think KTM, BMW, and the KLR. The rest would be lucky at best to make it. Look at the new Triumph Tiger, perfect example of what a rough road bike is. I view Uly as the same. I would never take a Uly on a trip like they did, but I do still want one. Goldwings have made the trip to Prudhoe Bay but that doesn't make them "Adventure Tourers", does it? As far as ugly goes, so are Hummers but people love the look. A beautiful bike looks sooo bad when it's dirty, but an ugly bike looks even better. Just my 2 cents} |

>>Doesnt matter what they look like, if they dont have the LIGHTs to run off pavement in the middle of the night. Who is testing these "adventure" bikes anyways?!?!<< Well, I kinda do, and I don't ride much at night - mostly too dangerous in Aus. Stupid nocternal animals everywhere attracted to headlights. Safer here in NZ, but I still prefer to travel/adventure by day. Night is what pubs are for. |

Maybe it is just trying to relive the childhood I had, but there is nothing more fun than running down rural dirt roads at night, feeling every loss of traction, and moving as fast as you can and still keeping her up right, chasing your friends tail lights, or passing on the inside corner and leading the way. Shame most of those roads are paved now. And yes there were deer, and yes we had a few close calls, wouldnt trade it for the world. Now I could go faster at night if I had damn better set of headlights on the bike/ looks like the treadmark deathrays are still on the agenda. |
