My sons beloved Honda ATC 50 is dead. It is kind of a family Heirloom and I would love to get it going again. I need some transmission parts does anyone know of a source? I know it is 25 years old or there abouts and should be dismantled and ebayed. I have been search for a replacement used quad with no luck. something 50-90cc would be fantasic. My second question is....I have a real problem Spending 1-2k on a 50cc japanese quad. Does anyone know anything about the chinese units? Lets face it you can get a 50cc unit delivered for less than $500. |

I had all kinds of those parts 25 years ago. I still have and ride a 200X. The thing about a 50cc bike is that a kid out grows them pretty fast. I have seen the China brand bikes in the stores, with rust on the bars and bolts, the quality might make you gag, but if it is safe to run(decent brakes, tires, foot protection, ect) it is quite a bit cheaper. I'd think the long term plan would change though, instead of keeping it for 25 years for your grandson to break a part that can't be replaced, you just scrap it when your son is done with it. |

I still have, and will never sell, an 84' 200S 3-wheeler. Very capable machine, and very dangerous under the wrong butt. My nephew has one of the 80cc chinese Honda knock-offs. It's built pretty well and hauls my 165lb but around. I believe it was in the $750 range, but not a bad ride for the price. BUT the thing needs a battery because all the "bells and whistles" draw it down while not in use. It has a type of alarm with remote start and "parental control" remote kill switch. Good idea if it didn't drain the f-in battery. It's like a chinese puzzle to start the thing too. But it's a good bike, no major problems. Tank |

I have to agree with the dangerous part. THat is why they quit selling them. I would love to get him on a two wheeled dirt bike. Easier to haul and store for sure. I retrospect maybe it was a bad idea to let him run around on a 25 year old atc. But has riden it for two years before it broke. I guess we have got our money out of it. PM sent tank |

My folks bought me the 200S when I was 9 years old. I could not start it by myself(pull start only). I didn't wreck it until I was 25.(idiots on ice) It's all about the trust, and teaching restraint and patience. Very hard to achieve these days with "time out" considered harsh punishment. sent ya a note back. |

Ditto on the Korean quad. I bought a SUNL 90cc off of a local dealer for $700-$800. My son rides it as much, of not more than my daughter on her 50cc SUNL scooter. She has 130 miles on it (riding 2 city blocks and turning around), so I'm guessing he has 175 miles on it. The only problem is it ate the battery also, $50. It's a fun stunt machine. I can "bicycle it" on 2 wheels, but haven't mastered a wheelie on it yet. My son is 9 and can do donuts on it all day long with the throttle adjustment about 75%. I use the that adjustment as a speed limiter (the throttle stop screw in the handlebar control fell out) Max speed with full throttle adjustment is around 35-40, as a guess. |

I have a "buddy action" 50cc atv that my older son snapped the axle on riding through the wifes garden, My younger is pressuring me to fix it now that the weather is nice. They seem to have closed now. I can't find a site on them anymore. Any one know where I can get parts for it, or buy another one cheaply for parts? They have been beating this thing for years now and it still runs great. |
