i am trying to find a setup that works good from bike to bike. wondering what some people have had good luck with? neither of our helmets have the pockets in them for speakers, so i'm not sure how that works. i assume i could use the ear bud headphones like my ipod has.

anyone have some good first hand experience with a certain brand? neither of us has the blue tooth stuff on our phones so cant get much use out of that. it would be great to get something that an ipod could still hook into and play.

recommendations?

Yes check out Autocom America. I have used it for 10 years and our race team uses it in the MotoST race series. We have the Kenwood radios with the bike to bike kits. So if I can talk to the riders in the race.......

Chatter box. Not the greatest, but the Wife and I use it. Works good. Go with the push to talk on the highway. Too much wind noise will lock one mic open and is very annoying.

I'm also really happy with my autocom. The only thing to consider is where to mount your devices. You have a small box (about the size of a pack of cigarettes), and a two way radio to consider. If you go that route find a radio that is compatible with autocoms handlebar mounted PTT button.

I go with hand gestures, they're cheaper.

My wife and I use Chatterbox X1's on long trips. Like Rocketsprink we use the handlebar push to talk buttons. It gets tedious constantly trying to adjust the threshold on the VOX. I read some good things about the Blue Ant Interphone, but I like the ability to pipe in my XM radio on the Chatterbox units.

We bought the Blue Ant Interphone one of the other BWB recommended. So far it's working great. Don't care to listen to music while I'm riding so don't care if it connects to an ipod. Cost about $387 for two. Lasts about 5-6 hours. Had the chatter box before but too many wires to mess with and didn't care for having to push buttons to talk.

Just received Scala-Rider teamset today. I'm going to visit my Dad on Sunday, about 160 miles away. I'll post results Monday night.

Review on Scala-Rider teamset:
The trip down to New Bedford went very well. The VOX setting on the helmet set sucked. We finally figured out how to keep it on "intercom always on" & after that the head sets performed flawlessly!! We got 9 hrs. of continuos battery life on the trip home. Sound quality "very good" especially w/earplugs. If anyone is interested I got the headsets from BargainBikerGear.com for $175.00, shipping included.
