...by J.D.Power and Associates. Toyota had apparently been first place last year. Article says Ford grabbed more individual awards than any other auto maker since 1998, when it tied for first place. Saw this on Yahoo news. Nice job by an American corporation! | ||

Well, I didn't want to bash Toyota, just wanted to acknowledge the dedication and hard work that must have been given by many Ford employees to accomplish this. And I imagine Toyota is learning just how hard it is to be on top, and how painful "growing pains" can be. | ||

I bought a new Ford F-150 recently and and have zero problems. Interesting, on the F-150 forum, to read about folks who've had theirs bought back by the factory. There are a few. Overall, particularlry for the price, it was a killer deal . . excellent value. | ||

Great job Ford! The F150s are built here in Missouri at the Claycomo Assembly Plant. Last F150 I had (1988) went to 198,000 miles. Current F150 (1998) has 255,000 miles and still going strong. | ||

I'm on a 2006 F-150 , which replaced a 1997 F-250, which lived with a Cobra GT and a series of 3 SHO's. I've had nothing but a great experience. I have a soft spot since the first big powerline I build was the 161,000 volt line feeding the Claycomo Ford plant. . . I gave up a lot of West Coast truck mirrors to the Chouteau Bridge for that project. We bought a new 2006 Mercedes-Benz the same week I bought the 2006 Ford and the Ford has been much more reliable than the Mercedes which cost several times more.

Yea my 99 tahoe is is sitting at 110,000 and she runs like a champ. but it is nice to see ford taking something from toyota since they went and robbed gm of being the number one spot (sales or profit im not sure which one exactly) (Message edited by firebolt020283 on June 07, 2007) | ||

My Prius has been problem free for 45,000 miles and it has had maybe 3 recalls that they take care of without hassle (as they should). None of the recalls ever was a problem with our Prius. I also own a Chrysler minivan. Never again. POS but comfortable. Waiting for a plug-in Prius to come out and will be all over that. I really wish they'd come out with a natural gas version Prius and then I'd buy the home gas compressor and not have to deal with the gas stations. Great Job Ford !!! wait till you hear about all the camshafts that are snapping in the new Toyota tundras... my 92 ranger had 253,000 when i sold it and never had a problem out of it... a friend of mine in sales, has a 2001 Ford Focus that has over 400,000 miles on it and still going strong. | ||

I'm eager to see why folks spend tens of millions to capture, compile, research and report it. So my Xbox 360 was great, at first but then it died, just out of warranty, 90 days. So sure its initial quality was great, but what about now??? My Altima was great, at first, now it thumps, ac leaks, sunroof rattles, radio loses the treble on fm. It's an 05 that I paid a pretty penny for. I bought a pair of jeans, at first they were great! Now not 10 washes later they are unravling. How many examples do you need. I dont care how good it looks on the showroom floor, I want it to last! | ||

i agree with that also Charlie...but initial quality is huge in the car business. showing that the factory did its job properly and the fit and finish is where it should be...long term results will match the initial quality, wait and see... oh, and with Toyota's initial quality from a few years ago, ask the 3.5 million Camry owners suffering from oil sludge problems how they feel today. | ||

It replaced my 86 Suburban that had 189,000 miles on it when I sold it. My buddy has two Suburbans, his 93 had 243,000 miles last I saw. He bought an 05 new because he figured the 93 would give up sooner or later. He stills drives the 93 more than 05. He says he is saving the mileage on the 05. | ||

Really? How about the recall Toyota had on the Tundra that makes them less safe? Toyota was making regular cab pickups with a switch that lets you disable the passenger airbag that way incase if you have a baby in a carseat. This is common, all the pickups have this, but the problem was, that if you have this switch, by law your passenger seat must be compatible with the LATCH child carseat an coring system. The Tundra lacked this feature. So Toyota had 2 choices, either spend some moolah and replace the passenger seats with LATCH friendly ones, or simply remove the switch, forcing the airbag to be always on. Well your wonderful Toyota was more concerned with their wallets than customer safety, so they chose the latter and issued a recall to remove the switches. Just some food for thought. | ||

I've had Toyota's from 4 runners to pick-ups to Tacoma's to Carola's and never and I mean never had problem's Most I put on about 60,000 before getting rid of them to turn my money. Only thing I did to any of them was Tires and brakes. I have a new Dodge Durango now and I really like and the only reason I bought was I got Chrysler Employee discount and save just under 12 grand off the price so I couldn't pass it up. But it has to stay rattle free and treat me good or its gone and I'll be off to buy a Toyota Sequoia | ||

Woohoo! If Ford's doing that well, the Japanese and Mexican assembly plants must be doing a bang-up job! (Waiting for the  ) No, seriously, glad to hear something's going in their favor for once. I DO wish all the American companies would get their crap together and do their OWN stuff, in their OWN country, though. I dunno about you, but driving American branded foreign cars does nothing for my sense of American brand loyalty.
