Anybody around that area on here? If the weather's looking good I plan on heading there this Sunday, riding there most of the day, camping somewhere in the park, then riding around and eventually heading back Monday.

I was originally planning on going back to The Dragon, but this destination will be a bit nicer on my tires, as it's about 150 miles closer, and about half as much freeway riding to get there and back. Plus I've been to The Dragon twice already this spring.

Any roads I MUST SEE while I'm there?
Anybody wanna meet up with me?

OOOh man.....I will be there at the end of August, I grew up in them there hills!

I will have to look up one of my old maps, I can help you find what you are looking for, but I have to get back to business for a while. I will try to get back tonight.

Off road stuff, I know what used to be there, but the road stuff I better look at the maps I haven't lived there in 22 years. I can't recall route #'s and I might send you to Bubba's house where you definitely DON'T want to go.

We moved a couple of times since I have looked in those maps. One of those things that if I am there I could lead you any where, but don't ask me directions or route numbers.

There are a lot of great camping areas around Kinzua Dam. Once there if you have GPS or local maps, go on any or all of the back roads that you can find. There are big rock over looks and picnic areas.

In the spring time you have to be careful of the sand and cinders that they use on the roads in the winter. They build up on the stripes in the corners if there hasn't been a couple of big rain storms they could still be an issue.

Fuel up too. You can end up eighty miles from a gas station that stays open after five o'clock, and they will be closed on Sunday.

Google Kinzua Dam or Reservoir, make the trek around the lake, over a hundred miles of beautiful wilderness riding and many small country stores and restaurants with good food.

Not far to the West is Chatauqua lake. It is about half the size of Kinzua. If you make the loop around that, there are several night clubs around the lake that used to be fun.

Have a great trip, there is a lot to enjoy there. Check out the quietness.

Thanks for fixing the link Alchemy.

Kuud, you're not that far away, come on over!

Maybe you could hook up with Dano_12s, he's coming over from Latrobe.

Sorry, you can't make it Mike, maybe next time/next year. (Sorry 'bout 'jacking your thread)

There are several roads that are OK in that area.

Rt 62 between Warren and Oil City is OK (sweeping road along the Allegheny River). Rt 6, East of Warren is OK.

While I haven't been on it recently, Rt 144 was real nice between Rt 6 and I-80 (it cuts through the Susquehannock State Forrest).

However, my favorite road (although it desperately needs repaving, and is busy on holiday weekends) is Rt 666. Be warned, there is one bend on that road, as you are heading west to east you are cranking through some nice turns when there is an UBRUPT 90 degree, down-hill, left hander that looks like it came right off of "the Corkscrew" at Laguna Seca!

I'm headed to Summit Point for the "Festival of Speed" or I would meet ya there!

Have Fun!

Well and just like that we go from no rain to 30% every day.

We will have to just wait and see I guess.

But in PA, 30% is usually like 0%-10%.

Well, I'll be watching the weather channel all day, and see what happens.

Right now, here's another thought:

Leave Columbus and head East. Where the chance of rain is small on Sunday, but large on Monday. Camp somewhere. Then head North following the mountains up to PA, where the chance of rain is large on Sunday, but small on Monday.

Maybe I could avoid the majority of it!

Ehhh, we'll see.

They still say 30% chance just about everywhere...... buuut..... the radar shows nothing.. So I'm OFF!

My tenative route goes through 3 different national forest/park in 3 different states.

I'll post up the details when I get home tomorrow evening.
