Ok.. I attempted a brake bleed of the rear brakes on my 99 X1.

I CAN NOT get pressure back to the rear pedal...

Can someone PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have tried leaving the fluid cap on and PRESSING UP/DOWN on the pedal then OPEN the bleeder to get air out... seems like some pressure comes to the pedal then... out again....

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

When I changed to a steel braided line I almost lost my mind trying to get pressure on that line.

I ended up going and buying a vacu-pump from Princess Auto. Best $20.00 I ever spent.

just went through this myself. i ended up unbolting just the rear caliper and line clamps and raising the caliper up higher than the rest of the system. i put a similar to disc thickness piece of metal between the pads and had it bled in about 5 minutes. reassembled and completed the job. fastest that i have ever done one.

I have a pump...

Is it REALLY this MUCH of a PAIN IN THE ASS to do the brakes?????

I have been trying to get pressure BACK to the petal for about 4 hours.

I have the CAP off and trying to pump the brakes then bleed the lines......

Guess i will try the pump AGAIN!!!!!!!!

You can do it without a pump. The brakes are real easy to do........ Pump the pedal up and down several times, now while holding the pedal down, crack the little nipple breather to let the air out, some fluid may shoot out with the air, tighten nipple, and repeat until nothing comes out, top off fluid and put the cap back on the master cylinder reservoir.

Looks like I had a TAD MORE of an issue...

The master cylinder seems to be not 100 %

Pulled the snap ring off the SIDE where the resevoir bottle line feeds... Found the O-ring inside to NOT be seated...

Looks like that MAY have been the cause for NO pressure on the pedal.... I will have it ALL back together tomorrow evening and see IF that was it...

I NOTICED when i pulled the PISTON/SPRING out of the Master Cylinder it had SLUG ON the PISTON and WASHERS......

I am HOPING that was the problem.

We will see tomorrow.

Mat,
Carefully check the bleed back hole in the master cylinder.
It's VERY tiny and easy to miss.
It's about 1/4" from the bigger hole, just behind it.
I had the same problem on the S1 project bike.
I bought the rebuild kit but it was the tiny bleed back hole.
I had to use a wire strand from a wire brush to clean it out. Nothing else was small and stiff enough.
