i've added some more info to the "header" at the top of this page, including links to every one of Mitch's "Matt updates" that i could find, dating clear back to August 2005. (one of the updates is from Matt himself!) tomorrow we start the Matt Ware benefit auction. if you've got something cool in your Buell collection that's just taking up space, something that someone else would pay good money to have in THEIR collection, get it ready... me? well, is anyone interested in a mint copy of Battle 2win Volume 1, Issue 1? or how 'bout a pristine copy of FUELL Volume 1, Issue 1? Hi, my name is Missy Boersma. Matt Ware and I have been friends for almost 9 years now. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that is or has taken time to donate money for Matt's expenses. It is quite touching to know that Matt has made so many wonderful friends over the years. It just is truly terrible that he won't be able to share many more years with all of you. I encourage you to continue to "Step Up". Matt really needs this support!! After the dinner benefit I will be hosting two other events. Dates TBD. One will be a Bloody Mary Mix-off at a local GR bar. The other will be a Memorial Golf Outing. Anyone of you is more than welcome to participate in any of these events. Thank you for your support! thank you to everyone who donated yesterday, and to everyone who has donated so far. it's a wonderful thing that you're doing, helping folks you don't even know, in their time of need. no one likes to ask for charity, and the Ware Family is no different. anyone who has followed Matt's story over the past three years, ESPECIALLY anyone who has faithfully read Mitch Ware's e-mail updates, knows they are a proud, strong family. and you also know that today they mourn the loss of their beloved son Matt. as do we and the world. the Ware's have invested every ounce of their beings into providing for Matt's every need since the first awful diagnosis of his brain cancer, and, as time has passed, their investment became ever more intense. yesterday afternoon, they held Matt's hands as he jumped into the arms of the Lord, as Mitch puts it so spiritually. they will grieve, they will mourn, they will cry until there are no more tears, and then cry some more. and they will lay their son to rest. and then, unfortunately, they will have to face the financial consequences of a three and a half year battle with the beast. i don't know what Matt's unpaid and uninsured medical expenses total, but it's a bunch. you don't fight Matt's fight and have it any other way. what we're doing here is telling Matt's parents that we loved him, that he was special to us, in part by helping with some of Matt's overwhelming medical expenses. it's a wonderful thing we're doing, one of the most gratifying experiences of my life to be involved in such an endeavor, not only helping to provide emotional and financial support to the Ware Family, but also being involved with so many good people in this world who, like me, hold a special place in their hearts for people like Matt. if you've read this far, thank you. i'm not entirely on my game this morning, a fact that's reflected in my words. if you've read this far and you've already donated to Matt's trust fund, no amount of words can express my gratitude. if you've read this far and HAVEN'T donated yet, now's the time. if all you can spare is $5.00, that's ok, donate it with joy in your heart, knowing that that's five more dollars that Mitch and Lori won't have to come up with. PLEASE help as you can.
