Gotta love it. 10 frig'n troopers working the same 2 miles of interstate. Me, speeding along but not faster than the cagers I've been behind for 10 miles, gets stopped for 20 over. Super trooper makes sure to write the ticket for the full 20. He really did want to arrest me when I mentioned he could kiss my @ss | ||

See, its really all in the delivery. You have to size up the officer and know what you can get away with. I just left my buddies place earlier this spring, the first outing for my little hot rod, and as I was sitting at the stop sign, I noticed there wasnt any cops around so I gave her all she had. The car is no pouch and is really pretty loud. Well about a mile down the road I see a cop coming up behind me, sure enough the lights go on and I pull over in a parking lot. I KNOWthere wasnt a cop within site when I gave her hell,so Im wondering whats up. He asks if I know why he stopped me, I say no. He says well, I didnt see you do it, but I heard you, and those black marks in the road werent there 5 minutes ago. At this point I should probably tell you that my car is still running, it has a big lumpy cam and fairly loud exhaust. So he asks "what the heck do you have in that thing" and I pop the hood, show em what 535hp looks like and we start talking cars. So Im thinking, I may not get a ticket out of this after all, and I get back in the car and close my door and just look at him. He eyes the car and says, "Ya know, that exhaust is kind of loud", and I replied, "nah, you just got big ears", and he told me to "get out of here" Like I said, ya just gota know how to size em up  | ||

What did they do to you on the 45 over? The local robocops around here always boast about confiscating people's bikes for that, but I've never met anyone that had actually had a bike taken. | ||

Cops in my town (almost) all ride, the judge (I can see his house from my window) has a gixxer, and tagging motorcyclists is unheard of here. | ||

Last Tuesday on I 190 near Leominster, MA I thought I got snagged by the staties that were doing a speed trap. I was doing about 90 in a 65 when I got waved in. I pulled over, stopped the bike, took off my helmet and got my license ready. When the officer walked up to me, he said "I didn't wave you in, you can go". 2 of the 4 state police vehicles were Electraglides. | ||

There are cops of all shapes and sizes, and all modes of travel here in Williamsburg VA. It's the 400th anniversary of Jamestown... . The LPGA is in town(always a mess).. . And, the President is supposed to pay a visit sometime this weekend. I'm staying home. | ||

New York State Thruway WILL be ticket heavy this weekend. The NY State Troopers are on an anti speeding binge. It's not their fault, orders are from above, and it's pre-announced. I'd blame the Gov. ( a former state attorney general, known as vindictive & heavy handed. & that's the guys in his party! ) but it's just the fad of the day. Sometimes they go seatbelt crazy, or crack down on drunks, for a week. It's political. Also....please don't shoot at our fine State Troopers. They are getting understandably upset at this growing problem. They pull over a guy for a traffic thing, get shot, next thing you know they're burning down a farmhouse, Waco style. ( nor am I knocking them, I cheered ) In the latest tragedy, 2 were shot by the bad guy, & 1 killed by his own when he stepped in front of a M16 round as they were storming the farmhouse the bad guy was holed up in. Tear gas grenades set the house on fire, as they almost always do, & the bad guy perished in the fire. ( I couldn't keep a smoke grenade from setting my boot on fire, using fiberglass & sheet metal, you think a 40mm tear gas round on a sofa's not going to start a fire? (Add anti govt. rant here re: Waco, and the lies of/to the AG.) ) The Troopers are also upgrading to .45 GAP's from 9mm, after a Trooper got shot, hit his killers, and was left to die. Traffic stop, the goblins had just robbed a bank. I support the State Police. Nice guys mostly. Hate to see the lights behind me, though. My favorite thing to see on the road, is a red firebird with a young long haired male driver, bong glued to dash, question authority bumper sticker, doing 10+ mph faster than I. Ahead of me, getting small. "Fetch, boy! Fetch!" | ||

A few weeks back, I was on my way home from Wally World with a good friend of mine. He's on his 07' Gixxer750. He hits it hard and I(knowing I can't keep up in a straight line) don't even try. He said he was running 135, I was only running about 90(well in a 45). All of the sudden he is hitting the brakes hard. I'm thinking theres some animal or something in the road when I swing into the other lane(no one coming) and I get a clear view of the police car sitting in the woods. Well I see his headlights come on. And I make the decision I am not getting a ticket that night. I realize there is one right hand 90 degree turn about 3/4 mile ahead. My friend is right behind me now. I glance in the mirror to see the blue lights coming on. I hit the turn about twice as fast a my friend and he falls a little behind. Then I hit about 135 and he eases past me and pulls away. We pull up to the house, pop the bikes in the garage and never see the police again. Decided not to let my speed get that high again. | ||

We have a small town near here thats infamous for speed traps. So much so that when the state built a bypass around their town they extended the city limits out over the new 4 lane so they could still practice speed enforcement on the highway. Avoid speeding around Auxvasse (pronounced uh-vaws) Missouri. They even hire off duty cops from area departments to keep the revenue flowing in. It's a small town, but they always have new patrol cars.  Don't get me wrong, in town, in traffic, school zones, etc. I can see speeds being enforced. However I don't think that traffic duty should be the main task of any police force. The old saw of "that's how most criminals are caught" is only true because of the amount of money spent on traffic enforcement. Shouldn't the capital crimes divisions be funded better than the traffic divisions? Sorry guys, it's a sore point with me, and I have a grand total of 3 speeding tickets, only on a bike, in the last 20 years driving. | ||

I was probably lucky in pushing my luck. I tried making my point that if I didn't ride with traffic that I's get my @ss run over. This guy just ignored me and came back with the 85 in a 65 ticket. When I said "you can kiss my @ss" he asked if I wanted to go to jail and sited a "interfering with an investigation resulting in delay" offense. He got really pissed when I told him not to blame his delays on me. "I didn't tell you to come back over here. I just told you that you could KISS MY A$$!" I think he needs a new hat after throwing the one he had into the car  I also, tested the "he wont pull me over for pulling a wheelie back onto the interstate" theory. Yes, I was speeding. going 85 in a 65. (not to mention 85 is 90mph indicated on my speedo) My only gripe is getting picked out of a crowd going just as fast. A crowd where 1 in 5 is some moron taking a cell phone call while driving and eating a big mac and will eventually kill someone by not paying attention while operating their non-descript SUV while picking their butt. Five cars go by the speed trap with one bike in the middle. All the cars are gray and the bike is blue with the rider wearing orange and black Harley leathers. I guess it's a sure thing. Time to support my local layers! | ||

Go to court, throw yourself at the mercy of the judge and hope the trooper isn't there that day to explain what a dick you were that day as well as being a law breaker. | ||

News flash.... If you don't speed, you won't get a ticket!!! Last week while leaving the Slimey Crud run a guy blew by me well over 100 mph. I shook my head at him thinking where is a cop when you need one? One kid had already snapped his neck that day in an earlier accident. Well, apparently the cop was one mile ahead. We rode on by as we saw the cop writing a ticket. I felt no sympathy for him. In fact, I laughed... If you want to speed, do a track day. | ||

Go to court, throw yourself at the mercy of the judge and hope the trooper isn't there that day to explain what a dick you were that day as well as being a law breaker. Yeah maybe, as I was going to Ft Lauderdale last christmas I got a 106 in a 60, definitely explained to the officer where he could go and how to get there, hired a lawyer as is my right, and won my case...no need to "throw yourself on the mercy of the court" screw that, get a lawyer, fight it, get it withheld and pay your fine, the truth is the money is all they want anyway. And what would his wife running off with a biker have to do with enforcing the law?? Would that be a difference if you were given bad service at your car dealership or local restaurant..would you make excuses like that for them? I think not, personal lives of cops interfering with their jobs is not acceptable and making excuses is not either. Yeah their jobs are hard, yeah the hours suck, yeah they deal with crappy people a lot and guess what..if they didn't like it they could quit. No sympathy for them or anyone else, when I am at work my personal life must be secondary and not interfere so it is the same with almost anyone else I have ever met, yet with Cops we make excuses...seems like BS to me. Fight it and you will find you will be happier, that check to the lawyer is much easier to write than the check to the court. | ||

Liquor, you got issues. I wasn't sticking up for the cop Dale, I was saying maybe the cop had a hard on for bikers and that's why he got picked out of the crowd. By all means get a lawyer and pursue your case. If you have the means and funds. Me, I like to save some $$. I'm a DIY guy. As for going to Ft. Laudedah at 106...I can understand leaving at 106, but going? | ||

Yeah Dan I prolly do have issues, •••• volumes for that matter, but it was good corner where I got clocked, my speedo indicated 125 so someone was off, I don't think he clocked me there, I saw him and slowed, maybe he got me on the slow down, my buddy was behind me and he got him at 91...amazing just over what you have to have for it to be a criminal ticket. I guess that is my issue, riding fast makes you a criminal, fine me if you want, I could care less, I will pay those forever, but don't make me go to court...I know whine, whine, whine..that is why I get the lawyer, I cannot stay respectful in a court of law. I won that case though, I have one more to beat in Okechobee county and I will be done with ticket fighting for what...maybe a week? Needless to say I am prolly putting his kids through college. Also it makes me a bit sporty to see cars passing me as I haul ass down the road and have the cop ease up behind my bike and turn on his lights...wait until gas is $5.00-7.00 a gallon as I think it will be and see how many people get on bikes to save money, maybe then the idea of the biker as a criminal will start to change..dunno...So there ya go...time to go back to lurking see ya. News flash.... If you don't speed, you won't get a ticket!!! --- Was pulling a trailer with ATV's yesterday. 1-5 mph BELOW the speedlimit. Lots of people would try and push me. Also -- Speed limits are set by the SAME people that will issue the ticket. The SAME people that PROFIT from tickets. Many local governments will lower or not properly update speed limit signs -- with the intent to TRAP people. You've all been riding at 55mph and for no reason the speed limit is now 45. ----------- My last speeding ticket - I was guilty. I plead not guilty and requested a Jury trial. The officer dropped the charges due to "lack of evidence" ... It's easier to just write another ticket then spend hours in a court room. | ||

Burnout on private property? Nothing illegal except maybe a noise violation... As far as the people pushing you arguement, that don't fly with me either. That's like saying, "All my friends were doing it so I have to". I am no angel, but you can't really complain if you get nabbed breaking the law. | ||

Kaz, burnout on private property with public acess is the same thing as a burnout at a stop light. I had a boss do a wheelie on his CBR in a parking lot (owned the property), Columbus Police officer saw and issued a citation because it was a private drive with public and it was not properly blocked off. Doing it in an empty parking can and will result in a ticket if the Officer wants to. I think there are stipulations for personal property such as your own driveway, but if someone wanted to push it, an offense could be found. Best bet for stunting is written permission and waivers with cones blocking acess to the lot. I don't know about you guys, but I limit my stupidity. If I'm out in my Mustang and being retarded I make sure I'm out in BFE. Same with the bike. | ||

I get Blue Carded once a month for drill. It is either on my Buell or on my Sportster. The neighbors dont like my loud pipes through their neighborhood. Problem is, by going the exact speed limit, it creates a reeeally echo through the house rows  Until they get a decimeter and county law, they will continue to pull me over and read my license into dispatch. (who I sold a bike to ) Luckily, I am always doing exactly the speed limit, my tags are current, and my driving record is clean | ||
