What would you suggest for a dual-sport/supermoto/supermotard/motard/enduro type motorcycle? This will be primarily used for foul weather riding and when my XB9R is down for repairs and such. I'm not in the market to buy one just yet, but looking to see what's out there and gather information and others opinions. Thanks in advance! |

I love the new BMW line of 650's. G650X's I believe. There's the dirt one, the supermoto one, and a happy median one. I want the median one. My problem is the small gas tank. It's probably on par with most other supermoto's, but it's too small for my type of riding. 3.5 gal. total. They are up there though. The middle one that I want is in the 8k range, and the supermoto one is in the 9k's. |

The KTM 450smr and 560smr are really potent thumpers and they look really good too. The 690supermoto looks a little funky to me though, It looks like someone already crashed it. |

You didn't say you'd be racing in the mud, so have you test ridden the STT yet? |

Wardog - Are you still selling your XB9R? You haven't updated your classified add since Feb. A few people are asking about it, and I might be too if you are still selling. It sounds like you may be wanting to keep it though. |

Thanks to all that answered thus far. (1) I'm not selling my XB9R and I know I had a few inquiries about it. Since Al from American Sport Bike reformatted the ECM, it runs a lot better than before. (2) The BMW G650 Xcountry and the KTM 560 SMR both look quite appealing. I have also looked at Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Yamaha as well. (3) I have not test rode the SST yet as I'm interested in something other than a Buell. |

As a correction to my original post... I LOVE the G650 Xcountry.... but the gas tank is only 2.5 Gallons. Too small for me. |

I sat on the BMW G650X today- the ergos were quite nice. The only thing I couldnot believe was the price $10,300 out the door... |

I'm going cheap and reliable for a backup beater bike. Kawasaki KLR 650. Can't kill the damn things. |

Suzuki DR650 is pretty bulletproof too. A little more dirt oriented than the KLR. |

I have the KLR. It cost me a whopping 700 with 2300 miles. Put a pipe and jet kit in it and some sticky tires. Its a blast on the street. Had it offroad a few and it is a bit heavy but you can make due. For bad weather and salted or sandy roads it cant be beat. |
