Guys, I'm looking for saddle bags for the 05 XB12s. Alot of'em seem somewhat bulky, TourMaster makes a decent looking set called the CorTech Sport Saddlebags: http://www.ironpony.com/ironponydirect/product.asp /ImageName/tmcortchsprtsddlebags2.jpg/Brand/TOUR%2 0MASTER/Class2/BIKE%20LUGGAGE/Class3/Saddlebags/Cl ass1/ I think they'd fit the 'flow' of the bike. Of course there are also Buell bags. Any they any good? What kind of deals are there? | ||

get the cortech sport bags! They are great. they have more room, fit better, and are higher quality than the buell bags. The buell bags will only frustrate you with their small size, and ability to only fit on the XB. I $hit-canned my buell bags in favor of the cortech bags due to the fact I coulden't fit much in my buell bags, and I have more than one bike. I needed a set of bags that are more versatile. The best deal I've found for the cortech bags is on eBay, if you get the tailbag, and saddlebags from the same seller, you can get a deal on shipping. | ||

I have the Buell detachable bags on my 04 xb12s. They look good on the bike but not much use for them. They're kinda on the small side. If you're looking for long trips check out other bags. But to keep a sweatshirt, rain gear and still some room for a bag of groceries then you're good to go. (Message edited by dick8008 on May 08, 2007) | ||

I just picked up a set of Ortlieb saddlebags from Aerostich. So far I am very pleased with them. 100% waterproof, and easy to clean. | ||

I also like the Cortech settup. If you have passenger pegs, be sure to fold them down. I put a small hole in each bag the first trip I used them on. | ||

That's a pretty good vote in favor of the CorTechs! Actually Twig, that was a concern as I do not have passenger pegs, I was curioud about them swinging into the wheel/tire... Are the bags prone to this? | ||

Nelson Rigg standard bags. Good quality and for $65 at newenough.com you can't go wrong. | ||

Having the passenger brackets sure help, but there is a lot of adjustment to play with so the bags can ride high enough with no risk of touching the rear tire. | ||

I Have the Buell bag which go well with the bike and are good to store wet weather gear and extra stuff. I like them. | ||

Chase Harper Stealth saddlebags. Semi-rigid holds their shape when empty. Attaches to passenger footpegs, license plate bracket and under passenger seat.  | ||

You can purchase CorTech gear from most bike shops... My local bike shop, non-dealer carries them. So, you should call local first. Ya might find a set and a deal in your own back yard! | ||

Thanks guys, I ended up with some Cortechs I picked up at Iron Pony Saturday! I also chopped the tail and switched to LEDs. The bike looks killer. | ||

Can a passenger fit with the cortech bags installed, and do you need to re-locate the turn signals? | ||

No, the bags cover the pegs completely. I actually adjusted the strap so that it just rests on the pegs for extra support. I didn't need to relocate the rear signals, but they are definately roomies. I am currently looking for a way to build my own luggage rack with quick release tops for different attachments, ie, for a fuel cell, Givi top bag, etc | ||

I'm looking at these. 75-100 liters of storage. You can get an attachable tent bag to attach your tent to the luggage. According to the site they are on it will fit the 9/12R among other Buell models. It is fully waterproof no bags or covers needed. Has 2 detachable outer bags. oxford humbacks on a 9SX - use them for my daily commute. solo, they fit ahead of the indicators ok, but you'd have to relocate the indicators to do luggage+passanger. with the tankbag, and tailbag, it looks a bit unweildy - I'm actually considering the improved '08 oxford humpbacks & the oxford multi bag system as a tank/tailbag for touring this year  | ||

I have the Buell bags, they are full with my rainsuit and cold weather gear. Not much more room. I have a Buell tankbag and the trunk bag if I need to carry anything else. | ||

If you want hard bags, Hepco & Becker make a mounts for the S. (They say their kit will fit the Ss as well, but it doesn't) | ||

Cortech works great on my X1. Have the tail pack also...installing a Zenrail system to keep the bags out of my wheels even though the straps work well...can never be too safe. Tom  |
