I need to get a jacket for riding that allows more air in. I like to have some padding as well but I dont want a tight fitting race type jacket. Anyone have any recommendations? My current jacket is too hot for 80 degree weather. | ||

I really like my NJK Leathers jacket (njkleathers.com). The armor is CE and the fit is great. The jacket is mesh, but the mesh is stronger and thicker than you normally see. When you look at it, it's tough to tell that it's mesh. It comes with a zip in full liner that is wind and water proof. I rode with it in rain in the 50's and was comfortable and completely dry. The price is also right. The jacket I got is now on sale for $109.  Oh well, I got to enjoy it longer. | ||

I just bought this one last week... love it.. gets lots of air flow. The elbow pads are kinda big but i really only notice when im not riding. It was $150 at my local HD shop!  | ||

I meant to post a picture:  The white piping is reflective. It has hard armor in the elbows and shoulders as well as a back pad. | ||

I like the looks FT but the harley one looks more comfortable. I generally dont wear tight fitting jackets. | ||

Johnny, Loose jackets lose skin. Armor for your elbows and shoulders is worthless on your forearm and arm pit. I have a Darien Jacket. It is loose all over so that I can use it to layer with in colder months. It is not as comfortable as my NJK jacket. When the weather is warm enough, my NJK jacket is the first one I go for. It isn't tight, it fits. His sizes are cut for real people and feel almost tailored. If you have any questions about their stuff, call the number. It's the owners direct line, and he answers his own phone. Very neat guy. If you want more patches of your own added, he will add them before shipping. If you want some of the ones on there left off, he'll do that to. | ||

I have a first gear mesh jacket with light padding and it is not restrictive at all I can't do the picture thing but just go and try one. | ||

I have a competition accessories nearby so I think I'll just go try on a couple and see what works. Their prices seem reasonable too. | ||

Tour Master make a very nice armored jacket that fits right. newenough.com has a good selection of mesh jackets. | ||

Tough question - comfort v. safety. I have a First Gear mesh jacket and also have perforated leathers. I admit to riding the First Gear pretty often in the summer here... but really feel vulnerable compared to the leathers. (live in the Desert) | ||

I have an old beat up Joe Rocket textile jacket you are welcome to try (guest jacket), and if you want to try the first gear jacket (daily rider) you are welcome to take a trest ride with and see how it feels... it's about 4 miles from you right now... I have a fieldsheer and a Joe rocket mesh jackets that I sometimes wear in really hot weather. Both flow a lot more air and are much cooler than my firstgear perforated leather. I also have a Joe Rocket "sahara" vest that adds evaporative cooling to the mesh jackets. It can make things chilly on a hot day.(if you don't mind getting wet  ) It is always a trade-off of safety for comfort when going mesh. A good mesh motorcycle jacket is better than almost any common jacket, even most of the common leather jackets due to the sturdier seams and CE armor. | ||

I wear a Vanson Jacket, myself. It's hot, but I don't care, I am man, I can handle it. I just wear "under armor" or tank tops under the jacket | ||

I got a Joe Rocket Alter Ego for X-mas, it hasn't been too hot yet, but it works well. I was skeptical at first with the mesh, but So far it is very comfortable in all conditions. I've been out from 39 to 85. | ||

The new buell jacket has some nice venting front and rear, and still has some good padding for the elbows, back and support through the collar. To add to the wicking slide a water vest under neath it. It will evaporate the water against your skin and keep you down right chilly even in the hottest of deserts. | ||

I've got the Buell version of the Vanson Vent Max II (has a reflective Buell shoulder patch) The III has armor, mine doesn't. http://www.vansonleathers.com/product_pages/jacket s/vx3.htm It's a great jacket for 'freaking hot" weather, extremely lightweight. Adjustable sleeves and an adjustable waist would be a nice touch to an otherwise fine jacket. Might not provide the best protection on the block, but beats wearing just a t-shirt. | ||

I just bought this bad boy because it will zip to my Teknik pants. It's due to be delivered today. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/item.aspx?sty le=24814&department=112&Division=1# I'll give a review after a couple of rides but I think it will do the job just fine. I currently have Joe Rocket jacket that works well in hot weather but it doesn't zip to the pants. I have visions of sliding along the pavement and the jacket riding up. It won't serve much of a purpose if that happens. Hence the purchase of a jacket that will zip to the pants. | ||

I have the XXL. It fits like it was tailored for me. It felt just right right out of the box. You would probably be at the upper end of a large or lower end of an XL.
