Just got hooked up with the InterPhone handsfree & intercom bluetooth helmet kit. If you buy two kits - works for bike to bike, bike to passenger. Anti-noise, anti-wind, all weather - including heavy rain. Automatic Volume adjustment with Digital Signal Processor for noise and echo reduction.

That being said, sounds good on a box. Did lots of research before purchase and this sounded like the best out there as of this writing. Trial run around block was success. Today, out and about, will be the big test. Getting ready for long summer journey and we totally miss being able to communicate while on the road - hoping this will be the answer. Keep you posted.

Yeah, that is a very interesting package in particular if it can be matched with a bluetooth GPS and phone then you really have a lot of utility. I will be interested if the VOX function works well.

Let me know how it works. I have been using Scala's Cardo BT headset for a while. It works well, but I am always looking for new toys.

My husband ordered it from bluetoothguy.com It sells for $189 per unit - we were just under $400 for both. Once you get two, you "pair them" through a series of button pressing and then they can communicate together. You only have to perform the "pairing" one time before first use.

Trial run yesterday was great. We rode about 100 miles. At slower speeds it was super clear and we could easily hear each other. It did get a little harder when speeds got into the 65-70 MPH range. We did back roads therefore no highway test yet. I should say that my husband has a full face helmet and had an easier time hearing than I did. I have an open face helmet with a face shield plus a much louder bike than his FJR1300. The rumble from my V&H at higher speeds, coupled with the fact that for health reasons I am having a little trouble hearing anyway may have been a factor. I expect my hearing to improve and will be getting a full face helmet in the near future, this will undoubtedly help.

Bottom line: It is great because they are NOT voice activated - the line of communication is always open - you can talk just like you are right next to each other or on a phone - no buttons to push, no delay like you would get with voice activation units. Small & lightweight - we did not even notice they were there.

They will work with cell phones and GPS units. I think this will be the wave of the future and with technology - will only get better.

Will be doing some highway riding soon - so will post once more info is obtained.

i see that you live up in wesley chapel, we live down in brandon. our daughter works at brandon h-d and my wife works at university comm. hospital down off of fletcher in tampa. if you and your husband like to ride alot, the lakeland h-d buell group has a monthly ride on the first saturday of the month that gets going at 830 and does a ride up north of there. doesn't matter what you ride, just as long as you ride. the blast is in the shop right now getting fixed. don't know why, not at home right now. but if your interested in the ride, get ahold of buellistic(aka lafayette jenne) of brandon and he can keep you posted. he would like to see another blast around. my wife would go but she needs more riding time. anyhow, get in touch with buellistic on the stormfronts tampa bay thread.

Neil: I have spoken with LJenne about the Buell rides before. Who knows, maybe I will get the opportunity to meet up with ya’ll sometime soon.

As for the InterPhone update: At slower speeds (up to about 50 MPH) works very well. We can pretty much hold a regular conversation. Once we get up past that mark it gets a little more difficult. That being said, even at 85 MPH – we could still hear each other, just had to speak a little slower with fewer words to comprehend what was being said…”I---Need---Gas!”. Bottom Line: Great investment and looking even more forward to the long summer road trip up towards Maine.

Next weekend we head up to St. Augustine for the Riding Into History Concours d’Elegance, so will have a mini journey to further put the gear to test before June.

Hey Maggie, where you going this year? I check your site religiously. It's been a long winter and my wife is recovering from back surgery, so I get to live vicariously through other riders.

My husband with the full face flip up tells me he has a lot less noise with this helmet than his previous helmet, which was open face. I would have to equate that less noise equals better hearing. He has been told that the regular full face helmets are even quieter than the flip up models. Can’t comment on that because neither one of us has ever had a regular full face helmet.

JohnnyLB – Hi!! So sorry to hear about your wife – my prayers to her that she has a full and speedy recovery and is back in the saddle again soon. If you are visiting my site regularly then I owe you an apology – have not been adding too much lately, sorry. Sometimes the riding gets in the way of pictures and web updates. Will most definitely be posting info on the Concours d’Elegance when we return from St. Augustine.

In June we hopefully will be heading towards Maine. I may not have enough time off to make it all the way – I take my vacation time when my boss is away and his trip is still in limbo. I don’t like riding through big cities (still a small town girl at heart) so I am not sure how close we will get to your neck of the New York woods but will keep in touch. I still very much appreciate my HVMP bar end weights and would like to thank you in person, given the opportunity.

Give my best to your other half. Happy Trails…

Ok so they work great between two, is there a bike to bike for multiple riders? Or do we still need to go CB for that? Feels so 1970, thinking I should mount the eight track tape deck under the air box ;P

Maggie, we are about 50 miles north of NYC, so if you're going to be in the area drop me an email. We've got warm beds and stalls for the horses.

I'll pass your well wishing along to my wife.

Brian,

What about using a Chatterbox. That is what most people use for multi-bike communication.
