Okay- '02 X1W~ Front cylinder valve cover leak- old paper gaskets from 2002. I know what these are for- (The other set is ready to be installed)  But what the frig are these? No mention in the parts manual or the service manual.  | ||

HEY!!!! I've seem those before They came in the set I got for my M2 theres a thread about it in old school One of the guys there said to use all the gaskets, not knowing they had added those to the set. I had everybody confused, especially me. Nobody ever determined what they were for, but there sure wasn't anywhere to put them I've got some more if you're starting a collection Rotzaruck!!! | ||

That was pretty funny, when it was going on. I was trying to describe them, and could not. The open bottom leg tubs description had them all thinking I was crazy. I finally posted pics, they still didn't know what they were for, but I sure couldn't use them. If you can find that thread, or some of the others, there are some other things they recommend doing in the process. Ed | ||

I don't know what they are for either. I've thrown 2 sets away so far. Maybe a universal top end kit that fits all XL motors. Even the new ones? | ||

When did they change from the metal ones? Do the new ones work as well as the metal did? | ||

were they attached to the gaskets to maintain their (the gaskets) shape? | ||

they are the new style gaskets for chrome covers on 04 and later XL's. H-D changed the lower rocker cuz they were leaking. just toss them out. | ||
