I like the gages and headlight a lot for the pics. I dont think the tail section fits and I think the angle of the exhaust takes from the flow of the bike.

I would have to monkey with at least $4k in stuff to make it the way I want it. Yep, that makes it a Harley ! ;)

That's the XR1200 supposedly going to be a European only model. I wouldn't mind seeing one in the states. The Exhaust is fugly, but who here has their stock exhaust on??? Go to H-D.com and then go to UK.

I sure hope they sell it in the U.S. too. I wonder if the exhaust is touching down in those hard leaning right-hand turns? Looks pretty close...

It looks like the lower rear heat shield has touched down lightly on the rear most corner. Let's get real here, not many people are even capable of riding anything like that on a daily basis, let alone a big lumbering Sportster. It does look great but the frame looks like the standard rubber mount XL.

If Buell did not have the XB, and KTM did not have the Super Duke, and Triumph did not have the 675, I would probably own one of those.

Oh yeah if Ducati did not have the Monster.

I am really interested in seeing what the production version looks like.
The tank and tail cosmetics have come under fire in almost every forum I have seen this bike mentioned, as have the pipes. That pillion looks utterly stupid.
And a Euro only HD model? WTH HD? Dirt track is an American sport.

I'd buy one in a heartbeat, if and when they ever decide to sell it here, as in Milwaukee. Even faster if it looked more like the XR750.

The part I love the most is providing all the HD employees, engineers, etc., I meet with Bill Davidson's DNA video, HD's website and a list of US MC Mags that have posted articles about the XR1200.

All this hype by Corporate, makes them look like fools after they have denied the bike even exists. Needless to say, they all are frustrated, but maintain the code of silence for obvious reasons.

Oh well, hopefully someday the XR1200 will be introduced in the US. In the event it doesn't it looks like my second choice will be a Buell TT.

Man, that is everything I wanted my Sportster to be when I bought it in '04 (see profile for pic). Since my Sporty was never that cool, I bought the Buell which really was everything I wanted my Sporty to be and more. Now the Sporty is for sale, too late H-D, I found my American V-twin bike, it was from your sister brand.

If that is true Court, they are making a huge mistake and underestimating the US market. it would be a perfect addition top the Street Rod line.

I doubt that. I'm a Dirt Track freak.I've been to the Springfield Mile almost every year since 1984. I think the XR 750 is one of the most pure and sexiest motorcycles of all time. I'd love to own one. I also think the XR1200 is beautiful.
However, when Harley built the XR 1000, it didn't sell. It was even more beautiful than the 1200, and customers stayed away in droves. I bet that if H-D did introduce it to the US market, a few diehards like Outrider would buy it, but the masses would pass it by on their way to the chromed out Bulgemobile Fatster.
Most Harley buyers couldn't care less about racing or performance; they want lots of Shiney with the loudest pipes possible (even if performance suffers for it).
The Mothership knows their customers well.

There are probably a half dozen people on the BBS's who are fans of street-tracker type bikes but I doubt there are more than a few dozen sales in any year nationally.

Storz has had theirs out for a while... wonder how they sell???

Ha! Thats because if you want the Storz kit you are going to pay about $26,000 altogether, including the price of the original Sportster.

Crusty, I think the times have changed and the people who now know what they missed with the XR, can appreciate the new Sporty. I think it would be successful now, especially in a "limited run."

HDI is a marketing GIANT! they've repeatedly watched the aftermarket and trends on the street, tracked what is popular enough to make a decent ROI on, and jumped in --

While that Storz bike used to keep me up nights, the fact that HDI ain't building one, and Storz sells parts (not bikes) speaks volumes

Anything that's hinted at racing in appearance has been a sales flop with H-D here in the US of A since the AMF days. Most prefer no more than a race-inspired paint job instead.

Personally, some day I'd like to build a Blast street tracker.

I would've rather seen something more like this:

...but that's just me.
