Photo shop!!!! I owned a Old English and he was just a tad under 200. I know someone that has the 3rd largest at 278 and he looks nowhere that large. Although he is quite large in comparison to the one I had.

I think I just found the next dog I want to get...

But in all actuality, if that picture were to have been true, that dog would be more around 450-500lbs lol and it would be all muscle! He'd be looking for strays at the local zoo!

Yea, big dogs LOOK cool, but like my father-in-law (an ex-Marine) used to say: little dog = little turds; big dog = big turds! He always had little dogs.

I had an english mastiff for a while.
I got him from a rescue shelter.
I had to give him up when I moved though.
He's roaming around a nice old lady's farm now.
I miss him now and then, though he was really hard headed.
Not sure on weight. I'd say somewhere 170-180.
I have a 32" inseam and when he'd walk under me lift me up off the ground.
He was a big baby.
I need to get a house and yard so I can get a dog, damnit.
Apartment livin sucks.

This is Big 'Un

Nitsebes,

Thought it was a Neapolitan also but the left ear gave him away. The ear drops down. The color is another reason but the Blue is an Old English color just rare.

John,

Goliath could put 3 in his mouth and you didn't know they were there. He didn't like to play fetch. But he did like the balls. Once they were his he kept them and destroyed them in minutes. Here he is in costume.

i dont have any digital pics of my english mastiff. maybe i can round up some of the old ones and take pics of a pic, lol

when i got him he was only a couple weeks old and was as large as the peoples black lab. LOOONG legs but couldnt even hardly walk he was such a clutz.

at almost 2 years, the last time i had him weighed he was just over 200. gentle giant for sure. he had this nervous twitch when someone he barley knew went to pet him. his jaw would chatter really fast and make a lot of noise. so many people were scared when he did that thinking he was about to bite them. then they thought it was cute when i told them he does it when hes nervous.

i really miss him. had to get rid of him and my 175 pound rott when i got divorced. the apartment let me keep only one of them so i kept my wolf. it was hard to get rid of the others, but i honestly dont think my wolf could handle it if i ever had to get rid of him. he has had a rough life when he was young and knows nothing but me as family.

i think they have gotten smaller over the years from what i have read about some of the original of the breed. he actually stood just short of the mastiff. his head was huge. he was papered, but he would have never been considered show quality. his head was VERY square, big square jaw and broad forhead. most every person that saw him said he was probably the largest one they had actually seen. he only made it a week or two at the friends that i had given him to. i am pretty sure that he got into some antifreeze that the ass left out on the garage floor.

i will see what i can round up. i really dont have much left from when i was married and what i do have is in a storage shed about an hour away.

his normal routine for our walks was for me to put a harness on him and hook him up to three full sized cement foundation blocks that he drug behind him on a chain. he could manage a full run with those things bouncing down the street. during the winter i hooked him up to a sled and he pulled my daughter and other kids around all over the place. i did get the cops called on me by a neighbor saying it was cruel for him to pull the blocks around. maybe if it was by a collar i would agree, but thats what the harness was made for. i asked the cop (which was some one i knew anyway) if i was supposed to have him bench press then to build more muscle. he just laughed.

we used to have a nice waiting list on his puppies though. the female averaged between 120 and 130 most the time so she was large for a female also. the wife still has her and i bet she weighs more now. she is just huge(fat) never gets much exercise. it pisses me off.

Goliath looks amazing Dana. Kilo's lips were sagging more all the time, but they weren't that long! the people that got him had a female about the same age and a big farm for them to play on so he is probably a very happy boy.

i love the blue color. it is beautiful. i would love it even more if i could ever stumble across an english that color. i have never seen one.

why did we have to start talking about this. i dont have room for another kid! kind of makes me sad when i start thinking back.

Rice

The Old English is one hell of a breed for sure. I have never seen a blue either but have several pictures. I have Boerboels now or also called South African Mastiffs. Rare breed here in the states. I own two of the less then 6 in the state of Wisconsin. Wanna talk about protection?? Heres a couple pics. The first is the Male name is Raleigh. The second the female name Libby. They both just turned a year old.

Dana sorry to hear about Goliath.

On Oprah the other day she had the world's largest and smallest dogs on here show. Largest was a great dane and smallest was a chihuahua.

I was wrong, it was tallest and smallest.
