http://blackjoe.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6634 This was taken from another forum. Basically a full size van ran into an r6 rider, but kept going. Dragging the bike for 20 blocks. The rider doesn't appear to be seriously hurt. Check out the photos. I am lost for words over this one. |

Nothing surprises me after driving in Orlando traffic for a number of years. We have to have some of the most idiotic drivers in the country here. |

We overheard them saying "we couldn't pull him over", which is obvious given their lack of lights and siren. Did they mean before or after the crash? Maybe the van driver was a rat who had been forced to work undercover. Becuase the van driver was soo nervous his forced undercover/rat work that either just had taken place or was to take place. Either way he wasn't paying attention. I know of one local habitual drunk driver who had been let go several times because he sometimes passed along "information" about drug dealers. |

What a damn shame, I highly doubt that van can be fixed back up to original |

And people wonder why I advocate full gear on EVERY ride.... I'm glad that the rider is OK, and that the van driver was caught. |

That is why I ride in all BRIGHT orange. I still have been run off the road by a guy that didnt SEE me! Luckily I pulled the cell phone and got is number , I was glad enough let the officer know that I saw him, recognized him, and his vehicle (a damn SUV) Sscmuck had warrants, so they were glad enough to haul him away . there should be a nice big Green Expedition in Kitsap impound if somebody needs one |

Some people should never be allowed to drive in the first place. Nowhere in the Consitution does it line out that the "drivers licence" is an unalienable right. Yet, DMVs all over the country see fit to grant these priviledges to any mouth breathing fool with a heart beat, even if they are are known felons or simply so old they can't see beyond the tip of their nose, and can not stand upright without the aid of a walker outfitted with a highly explosive supplementary oxygen system. My grandmother barly has the strentgh to turn the ignition key in her car and has actually been confounded by this more than once. She's had 2 minor accidents in the last 5 years, and most recently totaled her car by driving it though the back wall of her garage and into a tree. (She has shrunken and can't hardly reach the pedals in the car - her toe slipped off the brake and she floored her Crown Vic. It went though the wall like it was made out of butter.)She can't turn her neck to look behind her and I know she couldn't handle the car in an emergency. Her D/L should be revoked. Unfortunatly, there is no public transit in her neck of the woods - so pulling her D/L would probably kill her - or at least be the beginning of the end. My previous elderly neighbor drove until she crashed her car and couldn't afford to fix it. And some states give drivers license to Illegal - ie proven to disregard the law. |

Naustin you have to get that licence and car away from her before she hurts someone. Your grandmothers doctor should be able to get it done if he/she deems your grandmother no longer fit to drive. Happened to my mother last year. It took some adjusting on her part but it works out. My mother has access to public transit but won't use it, she uses taxis to do her stuff. Seems to be working out okay. |

Hate to stray, but... Nowhere in the Consitution does it line out that the "drivers licence" is an unalienable right Nowhere in the constitution does it state that one must have a license to drive...anything. Henry Ford didn't need a "drivers license". I could be wrong... p.s. sorry, sore subject (Message edited by tank_bueller on April 27, 2007) |

Henry Ford also didn't have to pay for or pay as much for : car tags, car title, annual inspection, smog check, gas taxes, etc etc etc. Things were different back then - few people want to or take the time to step back and understand that. |

Actually, that's part of what I was getting at.(sorry I was not more clear) As well as (like you say) the fees/taxes/inspections/etc. IMO this stuff has gotten way out of hand, along with any number of other issues(too many to list here). I paid almost $100 the other day, just to transfer a freakin' title. No registration, no tags, just the title. Title fee was $10, the rest was taxes/fees/BS. Things are surely different than they were back then. (Message edited by tank_bueller on April 28, 2007) |

If the taxes went where they were supposed to without getting siphoned off for other things and to pay for all of the red tape that the government creates I wouldn't have a problem. That's not how it works though. We have government agencies that have to justify their own existence on a day to day basis. They generate more and more paperwork to do so which we pay for with taxes that are supposed to repair our roads and build more. Instead it gets diverted to salaries of people that have nothing to do with infrastructure and to pay programs that our politicians promised their financial backers. |
