A.D. Farrow Buell & H-D in Columbus Ohio, is going to sponsor a 1000 & 1500 Iron Butt ride. This is what they have sent out so far. This should be a great time! It would be cool to pass some riders coming to Columbus from the Columbia/Topeka area for their turn around on the same day.

Early Call For This (Or if you can’t beat ‘em, go your own way!)
Last September, we hosted a 1,000-mile/24-hour Saddle Sore Ride, and all 50 of you who took part successfully completed the ride! Well, the Iron Butt Association, which certifies such things, has gone through some internal problems and is still working on the certifications (we aren’t alone; other rides around the country are in the same boat). This got us to thinking: America’s Oldest Harley Dealer knows a thing or two about endurance, so we’re going to certify our own 1,000 and 1,500 mile rides planned for June 23-24. The A.D. Farrow Co. Endurance Riding Association will even issue ride t-shirts BEFORE you go so everyone you meet along the way to Columbia, Missouri (1000-mile/24-hour ride) or Topeka, Kansas (1,500-mile/36-hour ride) will know you are on “The Ride Of Your Life.” If you are interested in taking part in one of these rides, send a note to Darris Blackford at darrisblackford@adfarrow.com

So what there saying is that they'll make there own certification, and this won't get you the Iron Butt certification correct?

No, what they are saying is..... They are going to reward you a lot quicker for your efforts.

Then you send all you info to the IBA and get your certificate from them when they can get it done.

Now you will be a IBA member and a FARROWS IRON A$$ Alumnus

Man that makes me think: the other day I had to run some errands and ended up riding about 60 miles. Now this is my first street bike and I just bought it this past november and my butt was really sore. Granted its an S1 but hopefully I build up some tolerance.

I will gladly suffer to ride such a stunning bike.

I am currently waiting on a 4 gallon fuel tank I bought on Ebay to hang on the top case rack. I should be able to go 300 miles + or - before needing fuel. Now if I only could increase the capacity of my bladder to 300 miles..........

Thats one of the reasons I love the Uly! I can stand up and ride for as long as I want without a care in the world. I couldn't do that on my Road King with any confidence.

The route Farrows has planned is straight out 70 west to Topeka KS or Columbia MO. I am going to stick with that just in case I or someone else needs help. They had 50 riders do a SS1000 last year, and I'm sure they will have more this year.

Fancy Gap is a good place to ride. I went up and down 52 so many times when I was in the Marine Corps....... LOOK at that!! That mountain looks like a big boob!

I'm going to do the 1500. I am going to attempt to do it in 24hrs or less. I did a SS1000 a couple of years ago and spent a lot of time horsing around at gas stops, got "lost" in Canada (couldn't find a gas station open after 10 to get a receipt) Didn't need to go to Canada but it was there so what the hell right!!! WRONG! That cost an extra hour. Got caught in construction on I-75 north. Couldn't find a gas station open in northern Michigan on the way home..... on and on and on..... and still got it done in 19 hours.

Orient is two exits south of columbus on 71 on the south east side of the highway. Look for Harrisburg.

The IBA rules will be followed from what I understand.

The basics.

Start at a point with a witness.
Go get your first gas receipt. (this is when your time starts)
RIDE
RIDE
RIDE
Get gas, keep receipt, keep a mileage log
RIDE
RIDE
RIDE
Get gas, keep receipt, keep a mileage log
RIDE
RIDE
RIDE
Get gas at end of ride, keep receipt, have witness sign log
Send info to IBA, wait 6 months or so for paperwork, patches and stuff

FYI Orient is off of Exit 94 on 71

I HATE YOU ALL!

I was perfectly intent doing the SS1000.

Till I read this post.

NOW I want to do the 1500 in 24.

But with a limited 175 mile range inbetween fill-ups.... that'd mean:

9 fill ups, at 10 minutes each, would make gas stops an hour and a half! So now I'm down to 22.5 hours to ride 1500 miles.

With my old style petcock, plumbing an Aux fuel tank would be easy as hell, but bolting it up somewhere would be the trick.

Hmmmmmmm

GRRRRRR, why can't I just be satisfied with the SS1000.

I have been looking at the new Scorpion EXO open face helmet to use while I teach MSF & Rider Edge classes. Now with this ride coming up, its the perfect excuse to get one. I won't need to spend as much time eating. I will be able to grub along the way!
