We have plenty of MacAddicts on badweb. Think Different/Different in Every Sense http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/236926.html If you open any app? IE open too? Has your helmetcam video ever worked on the mac? got quicktime 7? Make model of helmet cam? |

Depending what OS you're runing (and I imagine OS9,) there is a pref for what apps are opened by what actions. It's been so long since I fiddled with OS9 I can't remember exactly but it's near the cookies settings in system prefs. Maybe even a proxy. Give me a minute and check back. I use these damn things ten hours a day but since I've been on maternity leave, I don't even remember how to get to my office much less how to run my Mac. Brent |

If you have a slot loading iMac, you can install Mac OS X, if you have not already done so. On certain models you need to upgrade the firm ware before doing so. If you don't the machine will commit suicide. So.........find some 16 year old boy in your neighborhood who knows everything, and see if he speaks Mac. If so, have him go to the Mac site, determine whether or not you can install OS X, have him upgrade the firmware, and then borrow his OS X 10.4 disc, install the operating system, and upgrade to 10.4.9. The problem is hardly anyone old enough to have used OS 9, like me, can remember how to troubleshoot it. Just my .02ยข PS. If you are unsure which Operating System you have, click on the Apple on the Menu Bar, then click on "about this Mac" and look for OS 9 or OS X (Message edited by gentleman_jon on April 14, 2007) |

Sull, MacOSX Tiger here and same issue with the codec. Went to the manufacturer site for your camera and they are no help at all. Did the camera come with a CD? If so it should have all the codec info on it. As far as explorer.. I dont remember how to do it as it's been a while for me (just getting back into the mac thing). Hell just remove explorer. Now if you get an answer on that codec before I do post it Rich |

rich and livnlo, Not sure which codec your cameras use. Do you have flip4mac installed? It gives you access to some of the windows media codecs. http://www.flip4mac.com Dunno, might help.. |

Try launching Safari and from the Safari menu choose preferences, there should be a tab there for default web browser, choose Safari. |

livnlo (and hammer): Looking through the other threads. and doing some poking around online it looks like the camera records MP4 wrapped in AVI. Could try something like isquint/visual hub to change that around. http://www.isquint.org/ As for Browser. Since you said safari and as far as I know Safari doesn't run on OS9/classic. You must have some flavor of OSX. The question now is which one/which version of safari (Apple->About this mac, and Safari->About Safari). I am running Tiger(10.4.9) and Safari V2.0.4. I don't have any Macs around here < this rev and I don't remember back. Anyway Safari->Preferences (Cmd-,) on the General Tab. There is normally a combo box that says Default Web Browser (Mine currently says Firefox). But you should be able to change the default to safari there and get rid of Exploder. Hope any of the above helps.. -Patrick |
