Has anyone used the Sato frame slider kit? My wife had a low speed high side and the Buell puck came off and the tank/frame got dented pretty bad. I heard the LSL kit sucks. Any help would be welcome. | ||

The only reason for a frame puck to come off is if the frame isn't prepped properly. | ||

It was put on by a Buell dealer, so unless they are incompetent(which is totally possible), i figure they would be the proper people to do the job. | ||

Wonder if there was wax on your frame when they applied them, and they did not use the isopropyl alchohol for prep as instructed. Mine stick like stink.. so I guess I am with Rick on this one... | ||

I won't sell the Sato or LSL sliders, and I'm a dealer for both. Frame sliders should prevent more damage than they cause, and I don't think either of them meet that criteria. I've seen the results of a crashed Sato slider, not good. I haven't seen the results of a crashed LSL, but a good impact on the left side one will surely be ugly. I've seen a few customer bikes come in after a crash on the frame pucks. They work, and I highly recommend putting them on your bike BEFORE you wreck it, instead of afterwards to cover up the dented frame. I think that was Wyckedflesh's bike pic. Al | ||

Thanks for the info Al. I have heard frame sliders do damage motor mounts and other expensive parts, but as i said the puck cause the damage to the frame. It was a high side so therefore the bike hit the puck from behind not from the front and it tore the puck of scratched the frame and put a big dent in it also. So i guess if you low side they might work great. Whether they were installed correctly, I dont know. We bought the bike with them on. Installed by Smokey Mountain Harley Davidson. | ||

Some damage should be expected in a crash. I've never seen a high side with out major damage. The more important issue is if your wife was hurt in the crash. The bike's replaceable. | ||

In fairness to dealers, wasn't there a short run of pucks that had some adhesion problems as well? | ||

The Pucks Suck.... I wish buell came out with something better.. The reason I say that is with so many 1000.00+ frames being totalled it affects us all in the end as far as insurance.. You could take 2 indentical cars.. around the same price, Same class,same year but different brands and one will be much higher than the other.... $Cost of Claims! Sorry about the rant I just paid this years insurance on all our cars and my bike. Anyways... That being said they are better than nothing....In any accident your going to have thousands random variables.. Trojan has Carbon/Kevlar frame covers and with buell pucks IMHO is the best practical solution at this time.... | ||

CF frame protectors are junk. If you lay the bike down with the CF on it it will just shred off. With the frame pucks over the CF I believe the added stress might even rip the CF off (regardless of epoxy). I've seen a bike go down with just the CF ... didn't do a damn thing. | ||

I've seen tons of wrecked Buells, and like Al said...I've only seen a couple on crashed bikes, and they do the job, but most people put them on after the frame is damaged. I've yet to see first hand how they do in a bad wreck. | ||
