So far, I'd like to nominate Highway 431 over Mount Rose in Nevada and Highway 29 near Calistoga - the road engineers must have consulted Eric Buell. What's your favorite?

101 to 27 to 121 to Oak-ville Grade to 128 to Winters and back is nice from SF. Another - 35 to 280 to 380 to 101 to 237 to 84 to 35 to La Honda to 1 to 35 very nice - another - little fun loop is 1 north to Panoramic Highway to Stinson Beach and then Point Reyas and back using 1 all the way. 35 to almost any road is sweet, and then there is the SLO route I developed - a day of pure twisties - 35 to a few connectors to 27 to Peach Tree to Indian Valley to 101 into SLO - very nice indeed!

orr springs road in ukiah, ca. if you haven't your missing a nice ride. spent 4 months up there and i realized that although the carolinas have great roads i tend to think that northern california has better roads. unfortunately it will be some time that i'll make my way out there again. so i'm happy with what i can get. ps: chop the rode from fort bragg to willits is also as great as any other roads they have up there. i do miss them. next time your up at fort bragg stop im at the brewery gift shop and see if a short guy named piazza is still there. if he is tell him that jeff kemp's brother said hello. if he isn't there, then grab a beer, it's pretty good stuff.

hwy 20 between Willits and Fort Bragg is one I ride a lot!! go to google maps and follow along... http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=willits,+c a&layer=&ie=UTF8&z=11&ll=39.396938,-123.33252&spn= 0.214899,0.583649&om=1

as well as 1 from Leggett between 101 and the coast. (north of Willits)

A great loop is (starting in my home of Willits) hwy 20 to Ft Bragg, south to 128, to Booneville, then 253 to Ukiah, run up to Orr springs rd, play around there for awhile...then 101 north back home.

Or if I am feeling really frisky...I go 101 south to Petaluma, take Bodega ave west to Tomales-Petaluma rd to 1, then go north until I feel like going east, usually to Fort Bragg and take 20 back to Willits. (300 mile loop)

Actually there are too many to tell you all about, 128 from Cloverdale to Booneville, 175 from Hopland to Lakeport, Scotts Valley rd from Lakeport to 20, 20 back to 101, Branscomb road from Laytonville on 101 just north of Willits over to 1 just north of Fort Bragg....the list goes on!!

hey sleez, besides thanks for clueing me in to the supertrap of which the 21 discs and the bigger race end cap has made a big difference on the way the bike performs, i wish i had a chance to hook up with some people out there when i was staying in ukiah. beutifull country and great roads. there is no doupt about that. i may have ruffled some feathers when i said that deals gap is great for the east coast but until you try the roads up there where your at, it's just not the same.

Sleez, we like to camp at Rollerville Jt., dig some abalone in the mornings, then ride the roads you mentioned in the afternoons. Makes for a nice trip.

If you want an interesting ride, try going east from Garberville to lake Ruth and into the Trinity area. Sommes Bar to Etna, via Forks of Salmon is exquisite.
