Carl Settle harley davidson was started in around 1922 in Glenn Falls NY it then moved to 1020 state street in Schenectady NY where it stayed until closing in July 1987. I actually spoke to the family matriarch and she gave me quite a history on the Settles. Carl sr started the buisness and when Carl jr was a baby he was driven to and fro on the floor of a sidecar he then went into the service during WW2 as a transport pilot came home and became a pilot for panam at old laguardia field. He used to take his harley to work everyday I was told until panam told him it was unbecoming of a pilot to ride such a machine to work, after panam Carl jr. ran the shop and it evetualy became a firestone dealership. The place sold to Adirondack tire well at least thats what it is now. The matriarch is trying to get me a photo of the hog if you will, group of the 50's infront of the store. I told the women of our site but she doesn't have a computer and is elderly as you can guess. Carl has passed away but thanks to Ferris not forgotten. Dave Tweed |

you changed the title of this thread, tsk tsk tsk!!! yeah, started to feel a little guilty, never thought this thread would last more than a day, and started to cringe every time i opened the Quick Board and saw all the thinly disguised F-bombs hanging around the top of the page. i should never drink and post at the same time...

Geez, a guy goes off to bravely face the rigors of work thinking the home front is safe only to come home to broadsides being fired in all directions!!!! I fear there are now a pair of pictures that will never die. Say D please remind me NOT to stand between Kim and Ferris next time we get together! The Big Buell T-shirt Boogie That's the "Glenn Ferris" Great comeback Jerry! As far as "pulling off THE LOOK", I think your longer shorts and taller socks are Da Bomb! Those pasty white legs of mine don't hack it! |
