So I took my car to a local shop to get some maintenance done: new front struts and a tranny fluid/filter service. Just got it back home this afternoon. However, this evening I went outside and discovered an enormous greasy puddle in front of my car. Sure enough, the transaxle dipstick is bone dry, and the ENTIRE underside of my car is funky red. Looks like somebody goofed, huh? Hopefully there wasn't any damage to the internals, since there was a decent amount of fluid left to leak onto my concrete. F'n sucks, it does. Just one more thing to deal with. Sorry, just needed to gripe. ~SM |

Two weeks ago. I take my car in for a front axel (cv joint) replacment. The box contained the new part and a pack of grease. The shop had tore up my belly pan on the bottom of my car then used zip ties half ass to put it back together. I noticed it and had it put back on the lift. I then check the box and find an unopened unused pack of grease. I get the ASE master mechanic and show him the grease. He begins to tell me the axles come pre-packed... Then I explain to him how the axel boot bolts to the trans flange and they are not sealed. At that point they understand I am not the typicall idiot. I don't trust people to work on $$$$ items that I own. |

That is why I do all the work on my cars, and 90% on my bikes.... That way if it's screwed up I have no one to blame but myself... but at least I know what's been done. |

The one good thing to come out of it is that I'm being "forced" to use my Buell as backup transportation. I had to go home during lunch to give the wrecker guy the car keys, so by the time I finally get off work and back home I will have burned 100 miles just commuting today! ~SM |
