So it is a beautiful Sunday and a few friends decide to head to a benefit ride. There like "yea last year we got to do 2 laps at 90 mph. The track-"The Rock" The old Winston Cup Series Rockingham raceway! So I am in for sure! The benefit ride started at the track so away we went, got there and drove through racers only entrance that goes under the grands stands. The meeting had already started so we looked to find out where to pay and get our wrist bands. $10.00 bucks gets you into the show. Talk to the guy organizing it, he had to sign a 5 million dollar insurance policy to "rent" the track for two hours. Anyways there is a field of 170-190 bikes. It is a benefit ride, so 96% cruisers, two 1300 Busa'a, 900rr, A few Goldwings.............and one Buell Well our little group was # 3. roll out on the track and everyone nails it. Straight up to 100MPH, now for insurance purposes we had to stay off the embanked turns, had to stay under the white line. No problem for me that just means more lean angle(hehehe)
Well after the aircraft carrier launch, all the hogs got to the corner and guess what, yep "oh my gosh a curve, I better slow down" So I picked an outside line stayed there and followed a couple full dressed baggers. After the banked corners start to turn into straights, we had open range till the other end. Well needless to say I was in 3rd waitin for those cones so I could get out from behind the slower riders, nailed it back up to 100-105 and went around two more times to get used to the surface.
Then I cranked down on the throttle!! oooops was that a busa trying to race me at this point, when he realized I only let off the throttle and didn't hit the brakes coming up to the curve, never seen him again, I was later told that he pulled in after 4-5 laps.Probably couldn't handle getting passed by the other HD's. well within our 10 laps, I lapped everybike there once.
Well after the last group went they announced that if any one else wanted to ride again they still had an hour left. Didn't have to tell me twice. The 900rr came out in this group along with a new Goldwing. There were a lot fewer bikes this time about 20 i'd guess. And we were all flat out gettin it. The man on the Goldwing really was impressive, and that bike really does have clearence! Big mirrors also cause everytime I came up on him he would signal me around. Well I came out of turn two in 4th, seen the rr, shift down to 3rd, pin it, shift to 4th and tucked in as tight as I could. He wasn't playing either, the sound gave it away. But my little buell passed him up, it wasn't no head snap pass, but it was a pass, then he had to brake, hahahahaha by by!! We kept expecting the officials to signal how many laps we had left, but they never did!!! well after 22 laps on this time out I figured the group I was with was ready to leave, so off I went. I could tell everyone was looking and talking about that "Buell" that kept passing everyone, don't know if it was good or bad, but the feeling inside me was too damn good to care!
By far the best ten bucks ever spent, plus it went to a great cause. The only down side to the whole thing is that last night a I broke my digital camera/video, so I couldn't take no video. But there was a lady there taking pictures of her husband and told me she would be happy to burn a cd for me, seeing as how I seem to passing him alot!!

Hey Glitch, yea I was just wanting to make sure these new Sport Attacks could handle the upcoming pressure! I think they will do okay after they warm up. I wished we could have run it in the other direction so my tire wear would be even!!

Okay - No fair, you got a practice in before MBIV!

Sounds like a lot of fun, next time remember us lesser folk. Imagine me on the Uly with all three bags on following you. That would have had them talking for sure!!

Carlos, that would have been a hoot for sure, we would have been our own competition, not that it was a race or anything!!!
