so today we decided it was finally dry enough out to start teaching my daughter how to ride her 1985 honda Z50R. it was the first bike i ever had. the one i got to learn on. when i out grew it it started getting passed around the family. well the last couple years i have been trying to hunt it down. no one wanted to fess up. well on christmas day this year i finally stumbled across it at a family get together out in one of the old sheds. it was like christmas for me too! the thing still runs excellent. it may be a little banged up and missing the number plates but still functions good.

8-9 kicks and that thing fired right back to life like it had never been parked. lube up the throttle cables and then i was off to play with it for awhile until we loaded it up to bring it home.

so when i got my daughter today we wandered down to the garage and she happened to ask me if she was able to ride it yet just as i started saying thats what we were about to do!

explained the basics to her. had her explain stuff back to me a few times, and then we related some of the similarities between her bicycle and the motorcycle. also went over the differences. she caught on very fast. we just left it in first gear the whole time today. she even started to get down how to operate both the front and rear brakes while tipping the bike to the left as she stopped so she could brake and hold it up. it is a 3 speed with no clutch, but it is sure good to start with.

and the really important part is she had a GREAT time and only tipped it over once when stopping.

had to get a couple pics where you could actually see her face

IT WAS A GREAT AFTERNOON!!!

Looks like she's hooked!! Maybe you can keep it that way and she won't notice boys, till she's old enough, thirty two or so.
No, that won't work, the bikes will just attract more of them. It's hopeless, I guess. Just enjoy her while you're still her main man, That big ol smile is priceless!

that is way to cute, you gotta be proud of her. always encourage the safety gear. though. i will repeat what had happened to my daughter when she was on my m2low back in august. she got hit from the rear and she only had her full face on and not her jacket or gloves. this left her with some scarring to remind her of it any time she goes out on the bikes. p.s. teach her that she is invisible on the bike and no cager can see her.

What a doll. She'll always treasure these experiences with you. I remember the Honda 50 my dad gave me when I first started around age 5 or 6. Thanks for posting this; I had actually forgotten about the little 3-speed Honda I cut my teeth on.

Dad's still got the CR80 I graduated to after the 50, along with the old Honda Trail 110 I used to sneak up on deer with back in the day. Dad recently restored the trail bike. It looks brand new again and he still puts around in the woods on it. Odd looking motorcycle, but great fun if you're not in a big hurry. The dual range tranny is great in the rough country and sandy or muddy terrains. It just idles right on through whatever you put it in. He mostly takes it with him when he goes camping and goes sight-seeing on it.

Anyway, teach your baby girl about safety. Get her a little helmet and some gloves. Good memories...thanks again.

Before long, you'll have this to look forward to. We originally took this picture because Carlee sat on the M2 and held it up on her own. Now she is telling her Dad in four years its hers.

When Carlos looked at the picture he notice the Cozy Cubby in the picture. AydenXB9 & Buelletta bought that for her. It was her first ride, since then Baylee and now Luke play with it. Where does the time go.

NICE! Z50's are one of my favorite bikes. Practically indestructable.

Awesome!

I too learned to ride on a Z50R way back when, I still have fond memories of those days. I don't have any kids of my own yet, but when I do I hope to get them started riding on a Z50 or similar. The best part of the Z50R is you never really out grow them:
