Line-X it is!
I doubled the raised stock letters on the tank and the effect is pretty awesome...

The whole set.

Tank.

Tank detail.

I'll post a couple of pics when I get it on the bike.
For under $250 (bodywork AND Line-X) I got a custom set of "tins"!

Looks good!

You might want to put something smooth on the tank where your belly rubs or you will buying new jackets more frequently than you would like.

Doh! Another good set of plastics ruined! The "Buell" looks kinda' neat being embossed, though. I probably would have removed the underline 1st.

This Line-X thing is the strangest fad I've ever seen... matte black is one thing, but why do people want their bike to look like sooty oatmeal???

Actually this was a mismatched collection of plastics. I like the flat black look but painters in my area never seem to know if their paint will adhere to the plastics. The line-x rep knew his product would and for $100 I had a look I liked.

Looks great!
I really like the thick lettering - good idea to double them up prior to the Line-X.
I saw a police dresser (FLHTP) that someone had done the Line-X treatment to all of the sheet metal and hard saddlebags, and I thought it looked totally cool.
Sorry Cliff (Swordsman) - "there's no accounting for taste"!
Line-X in lieu of paint is kinda like Dr. Pepper and tattoos - you like 'em or you don't - there's no 'halfway'!

Although I havn't disliked the Line-X look, I havn't been very fond of it either.
Until now. With the raised lettering it does indeed look cool.
Nice job thumbsup

Nice job

i agree. I also dislike the nightrain look. But all is well!

The Buell Emblem looks awsome though, just dont care for the Line-x, Rid X, Zeibart, rhino liner thing!!

I use a automotive rubber bumper paint. Works great, and hard to scratch, too.

Looks cool man, I'd considered the same thing before I realized chicks dig my yellow bike. Awesome idea with the double letters. +2 for you.

I knew a guy one time that worked at Line-x and he'd done his entire jeep pickup truck. Sounds horrible, but it actually looked kick-ass. Had the look of a kevlar helmet. Very tough stuff. I have no idea how much that would have cost for a non-employee. BIG $$$.

How much do your plastics weigh now?
I've always liked to look, but have always worried about how much the parts weigh.

That Jeep, must weigh a third as much as it did before the treatment.

Yeah, but when you considered how much rust had already reduced it's weight, the line-x probably just brought him up to stock weight.

Looks pretty good to me, in an "industrial" sort of way.

But I have no idea what 'Line-X' is. Sure looks tuff, like you don't have to worry about nicks or scratches, that's for sure.

Glitch-
My plastics are heavier- I'd say about 2 to 2.5 times their original weight. But I 've recently lost about 8 lbs (and am working on more) so I feel it is a relatively fair trade.

I appreciate all of the comments.

Spiderman has the corner on that market...
But you could take that 3/16" foamboard found at craft stores and cut it to shape and have some cool designs.
I contemplated a Pegasus on the windscreen (in the spirit of the cf look) but lacked time.

MMMMM oatmeal. That looks great. There is a Line-X shop right behind ours and we already have a couple of bikes sporting the utilitarian black look.
