Anyone know of a knock-off of this helmet yet? Nearly $400 is a bit steep...Simpson Racing has a kind of, but....

Gracias

shoei hornet

see also my post on the Airoh Tyger ( I mistyped the original post as aeroh, if you use search)

the dual sport helmets are big in europe, but then you get into shipping, and possibly DOT certification issues...

I have a Shoei Hornet like this:

I ordered it direct from Japan off of eBay. However, I don't have a "Shoei head". It is uncomfortable and starts to hurt my forehead after about 30 minutes. Anyone interested in making an offer...it is size large and in excellent shape.

All of the Scorpion offroad helmets are DOT/SNELL certified. Cheaper too. They look badass.

Rick A - saw that, but thanks for digging.

Danger Dave - Cool! Thanks!Doesn't look like it's in the US yet, tho'....

AeHolton - What is a 'Shoei headshape'? I'm interested.

Kdan - Do those come with a clear lens?

Thanks everyone. Lots of help!

Doesn't appear to have a shield. Are you wearing goggles with it?

I think Shoei helmets are designed for those with a more round shaped head (when looking down from the top). I have a forehead like a caveman and I believe my head is too long from front to back. Since I bought this helmet I went to the local Cycle Gear shop and tried on other Shoei helmets. I noticed they are all tight on me at the forehead. I fit better in HJC and AGV helmets.

Helmets sold to different continents are made to fit different head profiles. That's why you gotta try before you buy.

Simpson sells a face shield for their GS-3 MX helmet.
