I'm sure some of you have heard Erik and his band. How good is he? Professional-good or amateur-good? Or possibly...not that good at all?

Any chance he will bring his band to March Madness? Good idea, I like it!

Thanks.

Steve they are pretty good for a bunch of guys that get together as much as they can. I've seen them but I doubt at this time you would be able to get them to play on the account of Erik's schedule at the time.

He's better than me, but not as good as Alex Lifeson.

There's the youtube that Jack shot the night we had his birthday party near Chicago. It's Erik playing with Tommy Castro.

Erik plays very well and is really serious about it. It's a "hobby" but he's really gotten back into it and knows theory and practice.

The band (made up of TWO Erik's and Two Ed's) will not be at March Badness this year but they may hit it next year on their worldwide tour promoting their first CD.

Erik's designed and patented two guitars which you'll likely be hearing more about.

Our BRAG group had a unique experience last year. We're all outside, early for our monthly BRAG meeting. About half a dozen of us. When this SRT4 Neon pulls up. Out comes a very familiar looking gentleman. We all look at each other, and say, almost in unison, "is that who I think it is?".

So it turns out, Erik started playing with Hals HD/Buell "house band". During our meeting, they practiced. So there we were listening to guitar riffs of Erik Buell. And the only reason we were really there, was from the motorcycles he designed.

How friggin' cool is that! : )

They should do a track day at Savannah and then have a Buell-sponsored Gretsch factory tour!

I talked guitars with Erik Buell at MBII. I still kick myself in the head for not offering to buy his Les Paul he said was for sale. I spoke about my preference for rosewood over maple fretboards on Fenders. I could tell by his wry smile he agreed.

He does play open houses when the mood strikes - or when schedules allow. He's played two of our Anniversary open houses so far. The first one we were like, well, we haven't exactly heard a "demo tape", is he any good?

Turns out he IS, very good, and he does classic rock, kinda heavy on the blues, which I like. I know we taped some of it, but it hasn't hit the internet yet.

Still pics are up around the badweb somewhere here, maybe under our sponsor section. But he was real good, and some customers got up and played with him, and some employees got up and played with him, and a good time was had by all.

Nice that he has something to fall back on. :P KIDDING!!
