Sorry to jump in here after being gone so long, just need to vent. Got home from trucking today to find my house burglared and ran-saked. They took EVERYTHING, even my toaster and microwave so that I can't even prepare food. They took guns, swords, even beanie babies. what they did not take they broke, a simple hand made truck that was a Christmas gift was thrown against a wall and stomped on. They took my good Scotch. They were so bold as to light unlit candles in my house as they robbed me. They broke a window and my door, left them open, the water in my can froze a little. My heating bill is going to suck. I know that this is not the righ place, but I got no other vent. To bring it back to Buell, This bumps my bike buying from june to over a year from now. Sorry, just need to vent, and for those that remember what else I have gone through this year, please understand. Just a vent.

Of course call the cops, and also talk to the utility company. Maybe with a police report you can get your bill forgiven.

My parents home was robbed on christmas eve in 1976. I was a year old at the time so I don't remember it happening but it was talked about every Christmas sense. They took the Christmas tree, wrapped presents from under it and raided the master bedrooms closet. All my mothers jewerly and my dads guns were taken. The guns were brought back from Europe after the WW2 ended by my dad. When he died last year we found one revolver that was stashed in a closet and my older brother gave it to me.

I've only been ripped off once. Some homeboys broke into my truck to steal cd's?
and I hear the window brake. I still have the scars on my knuckles from the vatos teeth. I'm 6'3" 235lbs solid and the guy I suprised in my truck was about 5'5" and punched like a girl. I reshaped his face AND the cops arrested him.

Every thing is replaceable. The only things I really value are my wife, the family pictures and my little dog. Every thing else is just stuff and replaceable.

They burned your candles? Sounds like meth heads shacking up for a night. Like Bads1 said about insurance, thats what its for.

Great f**king new start.

Man, that truly sucks.
We don't mind ya venting here, and if it seems to be a help, keep at it tell you feel better!

I've been burglarized a few times, when I lived in Hollywood, and ya just want to kill EVERYONE!

Hang in there, buddy!
You just got to keep prospering, build it all back up and maybe look into putting in an alarm system.

I feel like that most of the time anyways!

Doughnut, thats tough! Sorry to hear that.

Everything gets a chain or cable on it at my house.

I moved grandmas antique oak table into my daughters house, and when she was down at the realtors signing papers, the back door got broke in and it was stolen never to be seen again!

Yeah man, you can vent to us any time you like. I hate like hell hearing about what's been going on in your life, but if it helps even the tiniest little bit, rant away. We're here to listen and offer at least a little understanding. Keep your head up and know that there's people out there that do give a shite about you. If anything, think how good that bike's going to feel when you finally get her. Hang in there. If there's something you think some of us could do for you, tell us what you need. For example, if you do have insurance and need some feedback on handling your claim and dealing with the cops, I'm sure there's someone on the BadWeb that's probably a lawyer, insurance guru, cop, whatever you need. It's been my experience that people here are very generous with their time and would be glad to help.

If you don't have insurance and you're not a homeowner, move to a better neighborhood, install an alarm, and get some renter's insurance. If you are a homeowner, get with your insurance co., install an alarm, and make friends with your neighbors (so they can feed your new mean ass dog while you're out of town). I know these things don't change what happened, but maybe they'll help prevent anything else happening. I'm sorry this happened. Wish I could do something for you.

Man that sucks. You mentioned your a trucker. Are you on the road a lot?

If so why not look into a home surveillance system? I have done a few and they work well. My folks travel a good part of the year, and I developed a system that includes infrared cameras, and off site storage. Most home alarms aren't worth crap. You need video/photos.

As long as you have some form of internet access (cell phone works great) you can receive update if anything happens to, or around your house.

PM me if you want info (not doing this for $, doing it to helps someone out)

no sense in giving up. i know what it's like to get robbed by crackheads when i was living in hollywood, florida. first of all call the cops, get a report done. call the insurance co. when you get a chance try and go around to some of the pawn shops. if you have any neighbors close by just fo over and talk to them. when the house i'm in right now was broken into, the neighbors house was broken into also. the chances of being hit by someone in the neighborhood or by someone you know are greater than you think. just don't give up.

You probably didn't care to hear that, but it's true. I have no doubt you'll get through this, as hard as it might seem. Now is the time to just take care of things the best you can and move forward. No sense in letting wads like that win.

Oldog, yup, surviving in Racine. You from wilmington, NC? There is a young woman I have been thinking of trying to win over that just moved out there.

Gotta force myself to laugh, else I would cry. It all seems like to much to be real.

On the bright side, I found my coffee maker, just have no running water to make coffee.

Looks like you're starting to head the right direction, like these wise folks keep saying, work on staying positive-I know you would love to thrash those responsible, but the odds of getting that chance are so slim, you waste a lot of energy thinking about it(but if the op comes along, get in a lick or two for me) -your comment "on the
bright side" is where you need to keep looking, you can always find someone else in worse shape than your own situation, and there is always some humorous aspect of any situation, laughter, especially at yourself is great medicine. About the plumbing, well, thats my thing, if you are going to get it covered with insurance, thats good, a freeze job can be a nightmare, the bursts just go on and on, one at a time till you find them all, but sometimes it's just one or two leaks, you never know. If you do it yourself, please feel free to ask for advice, I feel pretty helpless on motorcycles and a lot of other subjects here, but I've fixed a bunch of busted water lines, let me know if I can help.

I am VERY not handy around the house. Going to put it towards the insure claim. Pipes burst in different rooms, so I'm not even sure how many leaks I have. Can't get it fixed until the adjuster looks over the place, thay will TRY to get to me Monday evening. Gotta go to the store just to use the restrooms. Keep trying to find places to go, just don't like sitting in the house. Feel bad for my mom, she is really upset and worried about me. Think I feel worse about that then all the rest.

Not sure of her exact area, she just got out there and I have not spoken with her much since the move.

Everyone, take care, be safe.

Jon just a thought did you turn off the breaker to the water heater?
if not do so, might prevent further damage

To answer your questinons I need to know what type of food you want,

1. On the beach at Writesville, the Oceanic called the crystal pier by the locals, ( largely sea food )
2.The Bridge Tender, beef and seafood upscale and on the intercoastal outside dining in warmer months.

3. Just in land on east wood road, Port City Chop House, Ate there once pricy and up scale.

4. Italian-style [ NON Chain ] Eddie Romanellies ( one of MY favorites, )

There are others but I dont eat up scale (spend my coin on my sled)

5. Carolina beach, Britts Donuts (made while you watch [ a local secret ])

cheap places to stay ( on the beach ) Carolina beach If you decide to "visit" contact me in advance I can check the place or know it,

Wilmington and the grand strand are nice places to visit, Cyclone lives north of my location in Hampstead, We did a foray to points north on the beach not much rental further north, about 90 miles South is Myrtle Beach SC

attractions:
Down town,
1. The Cotton exchange,
2. Evening carridge rides in historic district
3. The U.S.S North Carolina ( battle ship like the IOWA )
4. The Beach (duh,)
5. Depending on the time of year, the Azailia, festival ( spring ) or River Fest
6. Southport / Ft Fisher civil war park.

They told me to go ahard and get the pipes repaired, deciding If I risk trying to do it myself, or whip out the credit cards and make sure it gets done right. Likely just pay the profesional. Still have the scars from my last attempt at home repair.

If there is a plumber / handy man around looking for some side work, point him my way.

no water, waiting on insure money. Thinking of letting a guy I know move in for dirt cheap. maybe $200 - $300 a month or something. His wife and him have had some hard times, and I hardly use the house.

On a side note, I now know the last name of the possible perps. Have yet to hear back from the invest. in charge of the case.

Well, having someone there, may help keep the bad guys out, but I hope you get some water first, how many bushes you got?
I hope you can get "who done it", it seems like the police often give up too easily, guess they figure the odds of a finding and convicting, are so slim, and things they have a better shot at are happening every day, but if you can help them out , maybe something will happen. Sad part is, whatever the got out of your stuff is probably long gone, but at least you can get some satisfaction, and maybe keep them out of other peoples houses for a while.
Have you done any checking on what all's busted on your plumbing? Sometimes it not all that bad.

From my un-trained eye, I have 2 bursts. on an a pipe under the sink some where, and the top of the "shock tube" (?) on my utility sink. you know, the little "tower", think it house air or something, to help absorb sudden rushes of water. The people who did this were knew I was a truck driver, asked me about it. I real would wager that they would not have if they didn't know I would be gone for a few days. Hope the plumer lets me watch and ask questions when I get it repaired. Always up for a little useful learning.

You may be completely dehydrated and run out of the neighborhood for the BO ordinance before the ins comes thru with money, you may be able to do some temporary stuff at least, and get some water on somewhere. Are the leaks you know of possibly both on the hot water side? You can turn the water off to the water heater, and turn the cold water on. Does the shock absorber/hammer arrestor screw onto the pipe? Is the burst under the sink past the cut off's. What kind of pipe do you have? Got tools, or did they take them? Have you ever seen anybody with so many questions? If you want to give it a try, pm me a phone number, I'll call,(tomorrow, getting groggy) I've got enough free advice to get you into all kinds of trouble, or maybe get some water on.

Yeah, I think they knew they had plenty of time

I think the neighbor dog scared the guy away on the first attempt. I have been giving her treats as of late as a reward. If things work well for me, (which would be a nice change of pace), I get the job with Milwaukee PD, and have to move again. I don't make a pretty trucker.

It is going to suck if the police can't get the case off the ground with what I am giving them. Going to hate knowing what sacks of shit I am stuck next to.
