I was curious if there is a way to copy a file like from Youtube.com on to a dvd. My computer is capable of burning DVDs, but I am not sure about how to copy the short movie. I know youtube is probably copyright protected, but was curious if there was another way.

I am trying to copy a video to use in a Citizens training academy that my Police dept puts on. Here is a link to the video that I would like to put on a CD/DVD.

I work the midnight shift and my Sgt is requesting that I figure this out so any help would be appreciated,

I can't tell you how to burn the CD but I can tell you that I put on the same uniform as Rankin and Bray. I work with them at the Crisp County S.O. In crisp County Ga. I will be sure to tell them that they are on BADWEB. By the way Rankin was and still is on the S.R.T. (special response team) formally known as SWAT.

AFAIK you can't lift the file - flash format - no way of downloading it.

If your computer has video out you can play it full screen and re-record it maybe, but it's all work arounds.

Actually at the end of the video the guys face you can see just behind him while he's in the courtroom is the sheriff's face!

Danger, You're wrong. Took me 10 seconds to find a way to download the video from youtube... Google is your friend : )

Now you have to convert it from an FLV file to something more DVD friendly. But that all matters on what authoring software is being used. Hardcorp, what software do you have on your PC for authoring?

I know you probably need it asap but there are several people around the office that has the full court tv special. I am sure that I could get a copy and mail it to you!

Now, a little more searching, I found a utility to conver the downloaded files to something more DVD friendly

Thanks for the quick response! I actually don't need it for two weeks, but Sunday nights are usually the only time to get things done, because we are busy the rest of the week.

Our CD/DVD burning program is Roxio. I will follow the above links and see if I can figure it out. If not I might take you up on the offer Johntman.

Hey I'm off right now... But I am working nights hince the reason I'm still awake. Ben and Steve did work the same shift but they don't now. I'm sure I could get a copy to help out a fellow officer. Let me know asap if you need it and I'll see what I can do. I know Ben has a copy. I could get You a copy on VHS and mail it to you!

Cool, the flash manual tells me i cant without setting permissions.

PS = I just installed the plug in - doesn't work on my vids - error alerts only.

He said he has the dvd from the original court tv interview. It should be longer than the 3 min clip they have. I think my new lap top can burn DVD's. We are going to get together tomorrow and figure it out. They also just did another interview to be seen some time in June 07.

Danger, I usually use Macs, but in this instance, I'm using a PC(Had some Cad/Cam work to do). Didn't try the plugin with a Mac.

I gave it a whirl on a G5 tower running 10.4.8 on an up to date Firefox - only quicktime errors or unrecogonised file in flash player.

I'll go back to my original statement and qualify it with 'on a mac'. ; )
