I was up at New England Dragway last night checking out the action with some friends.

We were all laughing having a good time and joking about how it must be unnerving to be lined up next to a car that you know is going to smoke you, and then I hear it. It's a familiar sound, one that I don't recognize straight away with all the open headers and screaming tires. But it has my attention, if I can only find where it's coming from. When out from the smoke rolls a blue Buell (pre XB). The Buell is matched up with an older I4, and when the tree goes green, the Buell is racing down the track with a vengeance. The Buell got a good jump on the I4 it’s pitted against, but is quickly overtaken as it's 12.7 isn't a match for the low 10's from the other lane.

Before I knew it, the Buell was lined up with a big ole cruising bike. I was thinking to myself “That's pretty funny, look at that a “Couch on Wheels” the Buell will eat that thing alive! Little did I know, that "Couch on Wheels" was cutting low 11's all night.

I was in utter disbelief, but we went to look for the Buell and it's pilot. Our efforts were fruitless because the Buell had vanished into the night.

Is anyone here the pilot of the blue Buell.

I apologize that I don't know what model it was, but I only really know the XBs, I can't distinguish the rest yet.

I've seen a few baggers that could smoke our Buellies in a 1/4 mile contest.

I talked with one guy whose bike was pretty much stock looking but he said he routinely gets into the 10s.

The only telltales on his bike was little decompression buttons on the heads so he could start it with the normal starter.

His bike wasn't even that loud

Whoops, thanks Ducxl, yeah I meant Dragway...

HAHAHA I'm such an idiot...

The Buell was one of the slowest bikes there, except for a few Sportsters, but it was still cool to see one on the strip...

I know Buells were made for the twisties, but it was awesome to see one at the strip...

I was just wondering if it was a Bad Webber

A couple of months ago, someone posted some pictures of a guy at the drag strip on a XB completely looping out. Damn that must have been scary.

tracker95 and i were at the real nhis two weeks ago and had a different experience. we smoked most of the inlines. the track is tight and technical and most riders will find it difficult to harness 150hp, true skill required. one long straight where they could pass but then you could eat them alive in the braking zone. the rest of the track they had no chance.
you want to ride a track where the properties of your buell shine then go to nhis. passing litre bikes with the "little" buell is a seriously good time. of course the instructors go by at a good clip regardless of what they're ridin, good fun, great track.

I wasn't there, though I would certainly have gone if I knew some other Buellers were going to be there!
For the record, mine is a black 99 S3 with PM's and my bike, at a best of 11.75 is quick enough to give some poorly ridden I4's and other V2's something they were not expecting : ]
My brother's bike is a 82 GS1100 that runs deep in the nines! He also has a Monster 900 that has fallen victim to my Buell : ] : ]

Phantom, did the Buell have a wheelie bar? Was there some graphics on the tank? If yes I may know who's bike that was.

Hals has built a couple of Full Dresser Harleys that routinely run in the 10s.

No, no wheelie bar, and no graphics other than the Buell logo.
