I'm 48, with a Sportster(sell or trade for a Lightening) that has sat in the garage for the last month and a half, I have been riding my youngest sons Blast, I love scraping my boots in the corners...

Gosh, I just realized I am older than hell!
But I just can't see where I fit in in that new Harley anthem commercial.

having just turned 49 my self it's nice to have the ultraclassic to keep a little more grounded, although i think i'm riding the m2 as much as i'm scraping floorboards with it, it has cruise control so i don't twist the throttle so much unlike the buell. that just wants to be twisted. unfortunately i twisted on the wrong weekend last month and hot a ticket for doing 101 and that was after i had already slowed down. but it was a good thing that there weren't any cops around later that day when the lakeland fl brag club was out riding that morning and i had gotten the bike up to 130 on one stretch. there fun bikes and could get you into a little trouble but not a lot of trouble

Ditto to the general consensus. Got my CityX in March and haven't regretted a minute. At 54 the CityX is just way more comfortable for me. My neighbor and I (a few years my senior and the one who introduced me to the CityX) regularly enjoy the back roads of our county. I think our age surprises a lot of people when we pull in and take our helmets off. My son, and R6 rider tells me it's a way cooler bike than most dads ride. : ) Everytime I test ride something else I'm always happy that the one I own is a Buell. Go for it.

I turn 39 today and my wife would shoot me if I brought home a cruiser!!! My S3T is the closest thing I have to a "non-sportbike".

Although....I did have to remove the rearsets from my S1W. WAY too hard on the back: D

milford, pa. your not too far from a very active group of buell riders here on the ny, pa, nj borders. in addition to riding twice a week together we allso went to the dragon as well as the penguin racing school at nhis this year. we're planning more for next year as well.
welcome to the madness (i have 6 bikes and the buell is the only one that has produced an "addiction").

Kids...

Got my expert racing license at 49, took my first podium at 51. Putting a team together for MotoST next season - though not quite ready for prime time yet.

Not quite ready to grow up yet.

I'm kinda looking forward to being an eccentric old man roaring down the street on my snorting, clattering old Buell, scaring squirrels and pigeons and making dogs of the future chase me.

Born in '52 - That puts me in my mid-to-late (REAL late!) 30's.
What DJ said is pretty much what I'm doing NOW!

My RS is almost older than some of the children that have been posting on this thread!

37 Years old...????, MAN just hang it up, I don't know what I was thinking, in 1996-97, I was 43 y/o and finished Law School moto-commuting from Tampa to Miami on two Kaw ZX-7's, 300 miles each way and then in 1999 bought an M2 and now I am 52 y/o and ride my XB9S across the SE and on any given weekend, 100 miles to mom's condo, to bring her back in her car to visit with us. I am officially in the over-the-hill gang, I need that AARP card soon...

The average age of scotch drinkers tends to higher than the average Japanese sport bike riders age, too.

Those average Japanese sport bike riders... they're so typical.

I'm 57. My Vulcan is up for sale. The feet forward posture is murder. Even floor boards are better. The Ulysses looks about perfect except for the off-road styling. I really love the looks when I pullup on the M2 and take off my helmet. Butch

Born, 1944, rode bikes for 45 years. The Buell is the best of the multitude of motorcycles I have ridden.
I ride with some friends with cruiser style bikes. They tire long before I do.

Born in '49 - riding 46 years. I've owned 19 bikes and ridden more bikes and brands than I can remember. From AJS to Zundapp. My Buells have been among my favorites. The 12Ss suits me just fine at this point in my life although an RR would be a bit better.....

Just turned 46 and I have an XB9R and a '92 ZX7 Ninja. I do love the torque and character of the Buell.
I've owned cruisers and used to go to the cruiser bike nights, but I'm just not into the mentality of lots of chrome, riding slow down interstates, doo-rags instead of helmets, leather vests and chaps, etc. I never will be.
I had to go back to my sport bikes, Shoei helmets and racing leathers. Sure, there are lots of young guys on their Japanese me-too crotch rockets, but a few of us older guys hang out together. Most of us ride Triumphs, Ducatis and Aprilias. I do feel that Buells are mostly enjoyed by older, more mature riders. Whether this is good or bad for Buell in general remains to be seen.
Oh, and I definitely prefer to be riding solo. Firebolts aren't the best 2-up platforms. Exceptions if she's small in stature and damn cute!

sounds like the wife is TELLING you your old so she can have you at home all day doing nonsense jobs while she talks to all her girl friends and brags how trained you are. Get rid of that sportster I know how much they suck (had to ride one for a couple of weeks while HD fixed my Buell), and get something that can go over 80 miles before a refuel and keep up with traffic. The faster you can accelerate away from the wife the happier youll be...
