What you failed to mention was EXTRAORDINARY SERVICE after the sale. These are the days of the internet. I can get about anything I want within 24 hours from anywhere in the world. Times have changed. Geographical barriers have yielded to the "new retail" that's broadened our shopping horizons. There are (citing once again "9 Ways to Sell a Buell" from 1997) several points.
Dave intrinsically knows these things. The "things" are not rocket science, executing them is. When Dave sells something, he sets a tone, makes a friendship and sows a seed that creates a desire to buy from him again. Pavlov (that name ring a bell?) studied classical conditioning.
