Huh?

Let me guess that you measure rainfall with a thermometer?

That you for proving, irrevocably, the concept..."tis better to be thought a fool than to speak(write) and remove all doubt"

  • You are superior, Buell lacking?
  • BattleTrax does not rise to your personal parrticipation threshold?
  • You are too busy to meet anyone at a track becaue you are booked at tracks?
  • You judge a person based on the "number of bikes" owned?
When you are prepared to do one, just one, thing good let us know.

Until then, join an Optimist Club and attend regularly.

Troy,

No problem.....I'll see whats happening in the fall, I'd like to get to Brainerd if possible. Based on the last few years I'm either out of money or laid up by then! Good luck and be safe with the SV as I'm sure you will like it. Hopefully you can hook up with dave....I think you will be impressed with the firebolt, and I'm sure dave will be willing to sell you one! (Whats watter wetter by the way??????JJ) You will see the light eventually.....I have faith!

Dave, we have a lost soul out there that needs converting (by any means neccesary). We will be cheering for ya'!

Troy,
For track days that we do all you need is 80% tread on your tires, tape the lights, take off the mirrors and have full leathers, full face helmet, gloves that cover your wrists and boots that go above the ankle.

Now let me get this right, I'm going to run a stock Firebolt, with H2s, cause you won't run against a "race prepped" bike but you are changing suspension and have a friend that is going to help you "prep" your bike. No problem, I just want to understand the rules. I'll have my slightly modded Firebolt along too. Stock suspension(cause Buell uses good stuff to begin with) a 1050cc kit, slip on muffler(although by then I hope to have a full system on it) and a 0 Gravity windscreen and some tires.

Hans,
No passengers allowed. I do think we should have Sean from Edge racing follow along(he has a bike cam) and video the whole thing for all to see!

Ride to the edge!

Daves and Racerx1 are just too darn nice !!

Wish I could be so kind, but TTT came here to say Buells and their riders are inferior, throwing out challenges, and now has NO time to meet ANYONE to race cause his schedules so full ???

Tell me again why he started posting here knowing his schedule ??? I could be wrong, but personally don't think he ever had any intentions of racing or meeting anyone !!!

Troy’s excuses are becoming far too numerous to remember, and I’m sure there are many, many more to come. Here are some of the main ones I can remember:

Battletrax is too slow
Brainerd is too fast
Wes is too good
Wes’s bike is too good
A standing start is too difficult (even when being spotted 1 lap out of 8)
The SV is too small
May is too early
August is too hot
His schedule is too full
He doesn’t want to ride a machine that is insufficiently tested???(I thought this was about getting on bikes and riding, not pretending it’s some sort of AMA sanctioned event)It's a few laps around a racetrack Troy! Shouldn't be such a big deal for someone with your vast experience against a piece of crap Buell. Wasn't that the whole point?

But, without question my favorite. The one statement that shows he has absolutely no credibility was the following:

He thinks that setting a WORLD SPEED RECORD is a much less impressive accomplishment than putting on a set of leathers and puttering around a race-track because it is . . . (I’m serious, he really said this, I’m not making it up) . . . in a straight line!?

Pathetic

Troy,

Too bad you don't have the time to come up this way! One lap around the island, LMAO. Maybe on the way over on the boat I could get a couple of buddies to heave ya over da side - see how good you can swim. Water is icy cold up this way, makes you wish you never had B&#Ls, then again after a dip in the North Atlantic you can't find them for days anyway. maybe thats what happened to the boy

That challenge goes out to all as well-I need more Buell Riders up this way

I can put that challenge because a snowball got a better chance in hell then you showing up.

CJ got you pegged - right on the money.

Show up at Raod America this weekend and I will PERSONALLY kick your ass, and only charge you 20$ for it !!!

Newfie,

I will race you around your island next summer, this summer I will race you around Pelican Lake. I think you have the advantage because you are slightly MORE INSANE than me AND your ass will be totally numb by the time you get here.

CJM,

Save your breath... if a world record does not impress troy the only thing that will is people who think he is actually serious !!! Get ready to PAR-TAY tomorrow !

Here's some lap times at MAM I just found. I was wondering how I stack up to other riders on Buells. At our last track day, which was my first one for this year and the first one ever on a Firebolt I ran a completely unofficial 1:46.9 my best time I've ever had timed at this track. Here's what I found on CRA website. Some of you will know who this is.

DaveS, you have a streetbike with the basics done to it? Maybe some suspension work, maybe its a little bigger, maybe its got a pipe and EBC HH kit pads and etc etc, fine, sounds great. Those are all pretty much standard deals. The instant someone says "racebike" the thing looses another 40 pounds, gains another 15% in power, and is used mostly where the practice does the most good. You can have H2's as long as you don't mind my usual tires, RS2's.

My friend is going to help me "prep" my bike because he says things need safety wired for the Donnor Pass run, I don't know what and won't go if they require me turning the street bike into a racebike, I will instead substitute something else in that time slot instead, perhaps that mid-August date you mentioned? The "prepping" you mentioned for your trackdays is fine, its alot of safety wiring and such I'm trying to avoid.

DaveS, MAM lap times? Of course I still want to go, are we talking about similar enough machines or have you modded the Firebolt so thoroughly that it won't even be any fun? For a 2+ mile track the times look pretty slow, I checked the website and watched the video, it didn't look all that slow, is it trickier than it looks?

Elvis, I don't care if you like my schedule, it is my schedule, not yours. It is designed to get me familiar with the new bike and up to speed as soon as possible. I have no intention of rushing it in the interests of satisfying those around here who wouldn't know a trackday from a hole in their head, which appears to encompass a large majority I'm betting. If I choose to do a Battletrax, it will be as sideline to the Donnor Pass run, it is hardly worth driving to California to participate in cone dodging when there are TWO, count'em TWO people here so far interested in a late summer track day. Forgive me for being STUNNED by the huge number of available track people.

I hope you do try Battletrax and hope you try and do your best and enjoy it.Then maybe you will respect battletrax. It may just come back and bite you and you get hurt, heaven forbid that would hamper your schedule.Or you might damage your bike.Either way would love to see you scrape pegs if you even can.

If & this is a mighty big IF my X1 ever gets outta limbo & repaired before the late summer date, I would be more than willing to come out to MAM along with Dave. My bike is stock except for the ecm, air filter & muffler. No race tires, no safety wiring, no super secret suspension setups, etc.

Like I said its all dependant on myself getting the bike back. Long story that Dave & Court know all about but I will not go into it again.

Erik, I know you are lurking here. Hows about helping me out that motor deal??:D

Bads1, I would guess that scraping pegs on my bike in a slow speed parking lot contest, the way it is setup right now, could be a very bad, bad thing, particularly considering the traction generated from low tire temperatures. I can't imagine a BattleTrax event really gets the tires up to temp very well, so in that respect it is probably very different from a road course. However, there is really only one way to know and that is to go do one, good, bad or weird.

DynaRider, the more the merrier. You guys round up enough interesting people and I'll blow off Donnor Pass and head east instead for a full blown "bury the troll in Buells" day.

Well take a look at for instance Dyna's profile pic,he's at a battletrax and I would bet the right peg is real close to touching down in that photo and maybe did.Sorry Troy its done all the time by alot of posters on this web so don't give us crap about tire temp its all about bike control.Tire temp geeeeeez how many excuses do you know. Do you have some type of disorder we should be aware of?

Actually we do a few warm up laps to bring the tire temps up just a bit. And yes I hit my pegs more than once during last years events. For what its worth, being good at Battletrax takes a lot more effort than track days. Trackdays there is no competetion, its you working on your technique. Battletrax is also about technique, but its also you against the clock as well as your fellow riders. Believe me when I say the competetion does get pretty fierce..in a fun sorta way with everyone cheering the next guy on.

Bads1, I looked at Dyna's pic, and while you would BET his peg is close to touching down the picture simply shows him leaning over what appears to be a reasonable distance. Wow. Stunning. Gee. Since "reasonable distance" doesn't automatically equate to "peg touching down" you will forgive me making light ofyou knowing that somebody, somewhere, riding something, dragged their pegs....once, maybe, that somehow this is possible on all machines in a cone dodging contest? Please. I can't even beleive all Buellers can be fooled that easily.

Just because some people have sacked out suspensions, low ground clearance and weigh 300 pounds doesn't automatically mean everybody has wonderful "bike control" during cone dodging contests.

I must assume you are hard of reading or imitating the stereotypical Bueller on purpose because what I said was I "guess" that doing this on my bike would be a very bad thing. The reason I am guessing, even about MY bike, is because until I get the chance to wring it out somewhere, I don't know if its possible or not.

So, feel free to speculate about the wonder bike control that cone dodging instills, I will wait until I do it, or watch it up close and personal, before I'll take YOUR word for it.

I don't suppose you are interested in a MAM track day sometime in the late summer? Or do cone dodging competitions require all your energy?

Gravedigger,

I am the MOST EASTERLY BUELL IN NORTH AMERICA!!!!

I posted some pictures in Cool Buell Pics and a couple of them show the ocean. If you start sailing out into the ocean in one of those pictures you next stop is England. Look real hard and you might see Rocket waving.

Why do you think its gonna take me three days to ride to the 20th in August - and thats just to get to Spidey's place. The boat ride your talking about is 6 hrs with a 12 hr ride across this island. The alternative is to ride to Argentia, NF (very big American Naval Base until a few years ago) which is only an hour then an 18hr boat ride to get to the mainland.

Those gals weren't kissin in your last profile pic!!!!!Keep up the good work.

As for snowmobiles - I would like to try fitting a v-twn into one but I don't think it would work out very well. One of the most radical sled designs I have seen over the past year or so is the Yamaha RX1 (I think) a snowmobile with an R1 engine. Then again I have a friend that has a Ski-Doo MXZ400 Chassis with an 800cc engine thats putting out about 200hp - Apart from a pro-street drag car I have not seen much faster. Another friend is going to drag race a snowmobile here next summer by fitting an asphalt track and some kind of wheel system to his sled. I can't wait to see this thing run and take some picutres.

Snowmobile tours of the West Coast of the island are a big thing here for both the locals and tourists - Unbelieveable when you can leave a city by snowmobile and a few hours of travelling through the country arrive at a snow covered log cabin in the woods for the best boil up you will ever experience.

I'd rather the summer though bikes are more my style.

Charlotte,

We should start the Buellers Invade the Rock in 2004 Tour just to give people the opportunity to start planning now. A five day tour of the island would be a blast. Of course you would have the best tour guide as well. Plan it for July when the Whales and Ice Bergs are still off the coast and the sights are spectacular.
