FMJ,
Who'd we make go away before? If you are thinking Cecil... he was never "made to go away", he left on his own. Same with the Kxkid.

DaveS, H2's are fine, reasonable mods that lots of street people do is fine, and if you haven't been there before its fair for both of us to show up the same day, sounds reasonable. My only beef with August is whats the weather like? I am also thinking about doing that Donnor Pass time trials in California on the 16-17th but that isn't anywhere near final yet.

September would be better to avoid that I suppose, anything else available in that time frame, even if I have to drive further to get there?

Hey Guys,

Lighten up on Troy a bit could ya? He is a good guy even though he is not a Buell fan. Sure he has relentlessly bashed them at times and he can be rude at times but, he is still a good guy. Most of us can get rude at times and I know I have done my share of bashing things. I have no doubt in my mind Troy would meet anyone at the track as he has in the past with others from AMS.

Regards

Mike

My mistake, still wishing for the same thing here.TEDIOUS,TEDIOUS,TEDIOUS!!!!!!!Maybe we need to go back to the contact patch--or something else more entertaining.
And ya don't want to come out to Donner, lots of Buell enthusiasts, and there has been a Buell at/near the top of the heap on the hill for years now.Run out of Vallejo Buell with an big old fart about my age on it.Got beat by fractions of second last year by a 929.

Mike,

He may very well be a good guy - but people should show a little respect for others and the choices they make.

If Troy had come here politely inviting others to join him on a track somewhere to have some good clean fun then he would have come across a lot differently. I have not met the guy in person but if I ever did and he acted the way he posts then my opinion if him would be a childish idiot who lacks any social skills and I would not hesitate telling him to his face. I would then choose not to be in his company.

We all like to carry on with each other here and I can't remember the last time one member of this board bashed on another.

He chose to come here bash Buells and all else good with the Buell World (I for one am damm proud of my S1 and will be for a long time) so what kind of reaction did he expect. He has been bashing Buells for a long time on other sites which shows that he possibly does not have respect for what a lot of us believe in and enjoy.

He was so hot to race a Buell - Dave took up the offer, gave a time and place and Troys last post is still avoiding the challenge.

Like Dave posted earlier "I think its time to put up or shut up"

TROY ARE YOU KIDDING, "WHATS THE WEATHER LIKE IN AUGUST" AH LAST TIME I CHECKED, THE SUMMER IS A GOOD TIME TO RIDE! RACE! AND MAYBE 1 OR 2 million OTHER ACTIVITIES. PRETTY SURE THERE ARE THESE SPECIAL TYPE RAIN TIRES THAT TOUGH GUYS IN FORMULA U.S.A. SERIES USE , UNLIKE THE SISSY RULEMAKERS AT AMA PRO RACING WHO DONT WANT TO LET THE TEAMS IN AMA PRACTICE OR RACE IN THE RAIN .

He hasn't had ANYTHING good to say about anything, bike, race, person etc. !! No one should be that negative, you can't please him no matter what !! You have to work really hard to be that way and not offer even one speck of admitting there might be one teeny, tiny thing right about something or someone !!

And it hasn't been at times, it's been every post and word !!!

Troy,
That's the reason August would be better for you. I have done 9 track days at MAM in the last year and a half so I do know the track. I'm just trying to avoid the excuses. You can learn the track on Sat and then we'll run together on Sunday. Seemed pretty fair to me?
In Sept we are going to Brainerd International Raceway and I'll only have 1 day on that track by then. If you'd rather go there, that's cool with me. It's a lot farther for you to travel but I guess that would be up to you to decide I'm going to be there anyway. I have no idea if I'm faster than you or not but I will race you! I do think you'll have a whole different perspective about Buells and maybe even the people that ride them when we are done.

Ride to the edge!

Im betting Troy is a whole lot different in real life than he is on the net. Its obvious he's a bike nut so he cant be all bad. Probably just enjoys stirring up the hornets nest & then sits back & laughs at some of the comments aimed at him.

Mike & Glitch, yea the bolts top speed is between 133-135. Both the S3 & the X1 have a few miles an hr on it.

DaveS, what are we talking about in terms of bike prep? Do I have to find a full blown racebike or will my street bike due? How much safety wiring, safety gear, water wetter, etc etc. Some organizations are more severe than others.

Also, I have never been to Brainerd either, and its on my list. Probably an awful track for slower bikes but what the hell...

DaveS, forgive Rick, he probably accidently pierced the wrong part this evening in another vain attempt to make up for having only owned 1 bike in his life.

At one point in time I was trying to get to all of the tracks the AMA uses, which is why my question about Brainerd. Also, I need to know the particulars of any trackday/trackschool/whatever to make sure I have time to collect anything or modify anything between now and then.

Leave it to the children to confuse the issue.

Troy,

Here are a couple of dates of track days in the midwest I'm can make if you can committ to be there:

5/3 or 5/4 - Grattan

5/10 - Gingerman

June/July are bad for me as the weekends filled up pretty quick

8/8 - Putnam

I can assure you I'm not a pro road racer (and anyone who has seen/beaten me in a race can verify that!). The 5/10 Gingerman round would be the easiest for me since I'm going to be there anyway. Only additional condition I have is that if we have our little showdown at Grattan, I get 10 laps to lap you instead of 8. Grattan is about 10 seconds a lap longer than gingerman/Putnam and has a huge front straight so the splits are a little longer and the draft/drive off the last corner is more important.

Troll, a little tip...you can't get to someone personally if you don't know them on a personal basis. I liken you to a little fruitfly...some what annoying but harmless.

I'm confusing what? The writing's written on the discussion board.
There's a lot more to maturity than age. The more you speak the better you demonstrate just that.

I'll just be waiting patiently to see if you can put your money where your mouth is.

Accidentally pierced the wrong part...?? Are you trying to sound lame or was that meant to be insulting? These are the kind of comments I'd expect from a pre-adolescent.

I love my only bike...given the choice of another it'd be another of the same. Bikes apparently boost your self esteem. How's that working out for you?

Wes, I've got no problems with whatever kind of setup you want. But I needed a fall date because I'm already booked through then, assuming everything goes my way. And I wouldn't want to jump right into the deep end of the pool on an untested machine. Memorial Day I'm at Laguna, during June I'm touring on the sv in the Blue Ridge and the Adirondacks, which leaves me July for some small track practice and to get ready for the Donnor Pass time trials and possibly Battletrax events. I've got a buddy in Sacramento who might help me prep the sv for it, Aug 16-17th is the event dates I think. By the time all this is done and I've slapped some new rubber on the bike, that leaves me with late August, or Sept/Oct as my first real timeframe to say I'm pretty familiar with the bike. It will have seen 1 big track ( Laguna )and maybe the local tracks another 2 or 3 times ( Pueblo and Second Creek ), plus the Donnor Pass deal, and I'll be ready to roll up on anybody with a pretty good feel for what I can get away with.

DaveS has also proposed some less "racey" ideas for me getting a crack at his Firebolt, with some August dates mentioned at MAM.

Thanks for the early timeframe offers, but I would have to turn them down on general principles even if I didn't have Laguna upcoming, I need at least a little prep time to familarize myself with baby zook with the better suspension and decent rubber. It is quite a bit different from the 929 and without some stress free practice time the risk of dumping it while trying really, really hard would be pretty high. I'm sure you are probably familiar with this concept. New bike, new suspension, new rubber, I'm acclimating myself to all of this between now and late summer, that should be plenty of time to get comfortable with how the bike works and how I need to ride it to stand the best chance of not being wasted too badly. Wasted I don't mind, wasted badly I mind.

Bads1, I sure wasn't going to the Donnor Pass motorcycle days to do Battletrax, but if I'm there, why not? Besides, if I skip it I still have the same time period available for DaveS and Wes. Don't like that explanation? Too bad, it is what it is.
