Seems like Troy is starting to throw in way too many stipulations. Is he trying to justify something?????????Whatever that may be.

Back to a timed event in your most recent post, weren't you the one putting down a timed event that requires a great deal of skill on a closed course.

As for telling people off have a little more respect as you are really coming off as a loud mouth, blowhard, etc, etc and if you acted that way around here you would very quickly be shut down. For the most part the people here are motorcycle enthusiasts - street riders and have a lot of respect for each other. I will also speak for myself but I am sure others will agree - we do not put down others for their choice of bike or style of riding - get out and have fun at what you like to do, just don't put me down for what I enjoy.

I am sure someone would have taken you up on your challenge without all the dis-respect. If I was in your area I would have, but I am not travelling for four days to get off this rock in the middle of the North Atlantic to kick your ass on a track (well hopefully kick your ass on a track but if I didn't it sure would be fun trying)

Just pick a track, meet at the agreed time and race your ass off. Of course whoever comes out on top wins - How can you get any simpler than that your bike against his!!!!!!

Someone having such a great opinion of themselves with having so much experience and track time shouldn't let trivial details get in their way.

You should be able to adapt to any track if your that good

Wes,

Are you going to be at Road America this weekend at all? I am meeting up with the Trudells and CJM is riding up there too... camping in 'the pits' Saturday.

Charlotte
PS What the hell, Troy has already proven he is afraid of anyone with REAL knowledge about Buells, he can't ride 20 lousy miles north of Denver to go see Aaron.

MidAmerica sounds good to me! Last weekend of Aug we have a 2 day trackday weekend planned. Troy? RacerX1? Let's do it!
Troy, do you want me to bring a totally stock Firebolt or can I ride mine?

Char,

Yes, we will be at Road America this weekend (if i get my piston in today)! Not sure if i have Stacey talked into camping or not yet. Saturday is a practice/school and sunday is the racing (for us) Will be pitted in the supermotard area....Blue/white/yellow YZ426F #34 . The supermotard track is down by turn 8 across the bridge by turn 10....stop on down!

Dave,

I think thats the either the 100th anniversery weekend or Bonneville if I'm not mistaken. Either way its a bad weekend for me. Do you have a schedule of track days there?

Regards,

Wes

Jeez,Mike, don't think I say thanks for bringing Troy here.Send him over to Sacborg so he can spout off over there instead.Just when it seems we get clear of one bigmouth (KX Kidd,Cecil, etc,we get another immature ,oppinionated, self, righteous blatherer.TROY,This is a Buell enthusiast forum. If you don't like them, fine, now go away.I would never put down someone's choice in motorcycles,it's kinda like putting down their choice of women. They are all fun,and we all have our preferences.Hell,I'd own a dozen or more bikes if I could.
So when is the race?????

Hey Troll...I've been here on this board for the past couple years. Don't tell me where to go...

How old are you by the way? The maturity really shows .

...and when have I whined? I'm perfectly content with my bike and my situation. Seems you're doin' all the whinin' now that you have a challenger.

It takes more than a racetrack and a loud mouth to be a man.

No problem CJ! Stacey will be there for sure on Sunday....she's still trying to decide if she wants to come up for practice on saturday or not...kind of a boring deal from a spectator point of view. You can get in touch with her at our home e-mail: 2wfo@gte.net

Dave, count me in at the Brainerd track day in September! never been there before but have always wanted to go.

For those racers out there. Where's a good place to go to get started, learning, tracks, etc... Anyone got a finger where they could point in a good direction, offer advice, other than some that I've already had the pleasure of reading?

Bye the way, Troy, you've run your mouth and according to your mouth it shouldn't matter what type of Buell you run against, just show up and race.

Newfie, stipulations are exactly what some of you have whined about when it comes to racing a Buell against 748's in the AMA, don't like the comparison? Convince Erik to drop a real motor in.

Dave, a stock Firebolt was something along the lines of what I was interested in to begin with. Somehow it has morf'ed into "gee do I need Nickys RC51 to blow this guy into the weeds", but I cover that later. When I came here, it wasn't to race, it was to see a Buell in action. Out of the hundreds, perhaps thousands? of posters, the count stands at what, perhaps 3 honest offers? And before I make a crack about the rest spending too much time polishing chrome, a problem from the Harley days perhaps, I would say that out of the 10 regulars at AMS I am familiar with I'm betting the ratio is more like 60/40, perhaps better. Apparently, Buell diehards on a per capita basis are pretty much trackday avoiders for some reason. Part of the reason I came here to see what was going on.

Fireman, I will try and limit my presense here if only to keep the psychos out of my inbox.

Daves, what you gots in October? And where?

Rick "Bad Tattoo's R Us", you continue to simply reinforce my initial bad impressions of Buellers, like I said before, feel to pick a trackdate of your own or return to the kiddie table where you belong.

Now, on to the reason I came here. I find it interesting, to say the least, that I show up offering my sv as something to chase Buells with, and the most interest challenge comes from a 100HP+ racebike, ridden by quite possibly an expert class road racer. Who also races quite a few other things, which implies he may not be as much the "typical" Bueller as I was interested in meeting. I also find it interesting that the machine required to race my itty bitty beginner bike is a full blown race bike. These itty bitty sv's must stick in somebodys craw pretty bad, or they must be pretty fierce considering that it requires 50% more HP and a big track to use it, along with porting and other goodies before someone is willing to chase the MIGHTY SV! Are you sure Wes that your racebike is enough? Perhaps Matt would loan us his Gixxer1000 for you to ride and we could go to Brainerd? Can't be too careful with those AWSOME stock sv's. Perhaps Nickys leftover RC51? That way you could at least say you whupped the mighty sv with another twin?

Now, interestingly, and for the education of those here who have never been on the track, a massive majority I might add, I find it disturbing that you also require every advantage that a racer could possibly have against a non racer. A standing start, something most street riders are't practicing like racers every weekend, passing in traffic, another racing skill unlikely to be claimed by a street rider, more HP, and suddenly now we are talking about Heavyweight class's of motorcycles? At what point did you become convinced that the mighty sv with a street rider on board was such a threat to beating you? I didn't come here looking for a race, but apparently since there is such a dearth of Buell riders who USE their mounts in a sporty way, the racers are what I get. Dave excluded of course because his offer is more along the lines of what I requested. If you are required to trounce an sv to parade around a conquest, I am more than happy to be the victim, but I don't really consider all of the advantages you have reserved for yourself to be anything more than a beating in the making for me. It is interesting that it requires a full blown racer and race bike to run what, 10-13 seconds a lap faster than a baby beginner bike? Thats about the time difference per lap on a reasonable track that would allow you to lap me in 7 laps to me, 8 to you.

The question I started with, of course, is how much faster, if any, are some of the Buells over my itty bitty bike. I would say you have already nailed down the worst case scenario with your challenge, that I will lose 10-15 seconds per lap over a racer on a race bike. It isn't that bad at a local track of course, but it appears reasonable at a faster track to which I have never traveled. Now Dave's offer is quite reasonable, and perhaps a better one then your challenge. Not that I won't participate in a nice "blow away the troll" fest at one of Dave's locations as well.

But, showing up with a racebike over the next 6 months to race another racebike isn't going to be feasible. You have your bike and have raced it. I have a street bike which I first modified within the last month, won't see the track until memorial day, and would have a minimum of experimental time to get it down to the lap times necessary to make a run against a more powerful machine on a big track.

BUT! and for this I must thank you profusely. While explaining to the wife what was shaping up to happen, me converting the sv into a racebike in short order, spending money on a fair amount of tracktime to practice, plus other fee's associated with tracktime, hotels, travel, etc etc, she proclaimed in utter disgust..." Why don't you just go racing then!"....for a second, the world stopped as she realized the enormity of what she had just sputtered in a fit of peeved-off-ness.

For allowing me to use you as a foil, and for being the only one who asked for just enough effort on my part, you have successfully allowed me to cross the bridge I needed with the wife. In that instant the question went from "let me spend a summer becoming a pseudo racer to win a bet" to "let me ease into racing on a reasonable schedule with my buddy while trying to conserve funds I might have wasted in challenges". Its been at least 2 years of debate, and thanks to you it went from debate to planning. Again, my appreciation.

Now...the challenge. I poked around the classifications in the CSS or CCS website and checked out the "exclusions" for the 748, a funny thing, now I see where you guys think you are required to out power and ban everybody who you don't like to make sure you aren't taken over by decent machinery, I noticed that since you appear to be talking "racerspeak" when you start spewing class information, and in part because I consider the handicap you are asking for as pretty severe, how about I do some "racerspeak". Since this has become a "gee lets take advantage as much we can of baby bikes", how about we even the field a little? I let you keep all of the racer advantages, traffic passing, standing start, and you let me bring a "sportbike" classified bike? Seems reasonable? Or do you really need 50% more power and a racebike on a big track to run faster than the mighty sv? Again, are you sure it is enough, or should we try and talk Yoshimura out of Matts Suzuki for the weekend, just so you can be certain that you wouldn't lose such a lopsided bet? I also think if you mention to Team Yoshimura how fast you think these sv's are, maybe you can convince Matt to drop the Gixxer and start riding an sv?

This has been some good reading, and, since I'm the N00B I'll make it short and quick. I've ridden an '01 SVS and an '02 XB9R, (not raced either mind you) both nice bikes. But I would like to see both (in stock form) race. I even think there would be some others that would like to see this as well. Maybe it would get the attention of some magazines as well. What would be even better, if after the race, have another, only the riders switch bikes. That would be too cool. I would even pay to see this, if I couldn't be there in person I would gladly pay for the video. So how 'bout it?

Nope. We continue to enjoy his long winded posts, saying nothing. Now it sounds like the SV is out and a "sportbike" classified bike is in?!? A number of Buell riders have already agreed to meet Troy at various tracks. Just do it and stop talking about it. I'm getting bored with all of this.
