This Troy the troll sounds like a real D*ck. Tell him to bring his bike and gear over to Highlands Ranch CO. on Sat. June 19th for the Battletrax nationals sponsored by Rocky Mountain HD. I would hope it would humble him a bit. Neal

Hey Charlotte,

Wife is out of town and I can't go without her for too long. Damm its only two days so far and two to go. Getting a little Delusional.

But Remember,

The easter bunny will be here this weekend.

Warning, if there is no foil on the chocolate eggs that the Easter Bunny left behind.......it may not be chocolate!!!!!!!

Was riding in 40 degree weather today and something funny happened. I went to Signal Hill for a blast up the hill - real twisty and was also the site of the very first wireless trans-atlantic signal from England. Anyway, I went there hoping to see some ice bergs, get some pictures of the S1 and ice bergs in the background and it turned out that my buddy (also a fellow rider) who is a local cop was on patrol and came up for a run. He parked the patrol car right behind the S1 while I sat in the car shooting the shit with him while I warmed up a little. Man the looks I was getting, about three hours later someone asked me what heinous crime I had committed on the bike to be in the car for so long. What a F&*king small place this is!!!!!

Newfie, I understand, I bought a Suzuki 1100E from a guy I worked with (Ron), whose mom was a dispatcher for the NY State Troopers. Champagne w/ orange letters, and he redid the seat in 68 Chrysler Hemi Orange. Distinctive. I was pulled over by EVERY cop in Wayne county. ("Hey Ron, hows your mom?" "Hello, I'm Pat, I bought Ron's bike, his moms doing fine" ) Always got a "be careful out there" and knew 'em by first name after a while. Many looks from passers by. He MUST be a Hooligan!!

It wasnt that hard.
It's ALWAYS about the nookie.

always :-)

The infinte wisdom I have aquired throughout my life and in my many adventures can only lead to that conclusion.
PLUS, since everybody never even commented on the theory it is obvious that someone from this board is either guilty or knows too much.... :-)
maybe even the author himself,
he did after all sympathize with troy.

A sign of guilt ?

Second creek is like 30 minutes from Denver right? I hear they charge $45.00 for four hours of track time. Someone posted this link because Troy was not familiar with Battletrax:http://www.battletrax.com/SlideShow/Photo8.html

Needless to say it got a lot of laughs.

I've been exchanging some Email with the Troll lately.

The guy isn't all that funny 'cause I, in all honesty, believe that the guy is being totally honest in his opinion.

I see him as diluted and ignorant...
...he's never even rode a Buell yet feels inclined to share with the world what slow heavy pigs they are. Gimme a break.

Slow and heavy they may be...but at least admit that they handle phenomenally

Yep Saro. When that album first came out it floored me. Also, along with riding bikes I happen to be a drummer. Neil was one of my early influences. I really dig an American power trio now that goes by the name of King's X.:-)

Yes Dyna Troy is a funny guy. We have had our run in's in the past couple of years. Lot's of funny stuff that's for sure. Especially when the Firebolt's were about ready to be released. I posted all the Bolt's rumored spec's and when most of them never materialized it created some turmoil. All in good fun.:-)Can any of you Colorado guy's take him up on his offer? Second creek $45.00 for four hours thurdays nights IIRC. Come on take the Buell to the track!:-)Roast the rice burner!Bwahahahahaha!!!!

So Mike, this is where you hang out? And the interest you have generated so far has been pretty meager I'll admit. The guy who thinks dodging cones is better than Second Creek, Neals3T I beleive, now here is the proto-Bueller we love to bash.

"Common guys! Lets race around these here cones in first gear and show them imports how manly we are as long as we go slower than 20mph! Takes balls of steel to not shift outta 1st it does!" And not 30 miles from his doorstep is a perfectly fine 1.7 mile road course open 5-6 days a week, 9-5, and for $45 he can show off his capabilities beyond what a blind chimp can do on a bicycle.

Mike, now I see that when you hang out with people who own sportbikes why you are an anomaly. Think I'll go dodge some cones out in the front yard, get all practiced up for this 5mph racing which appears to define a Buell riders version of "trackday".

Hey genius...BattleTrax is not meant to be a trackday of any sort. It's a way to get more people together and enthused about sport riding by using a relatively safe, tight closed course that can be easily set up in minimum amount of space and time. Kinda hard to build a racetrack at each of those locations, guy...

I don't see anything wrong with that.

ANYONE can ride a bike fast on a closed course, it takes some major SKILL to ride slow on a very tight course.

Until you ride a Buell, whether it be an S1, X1, Bolt or any other hold your judgements. They are genuinely fun bikes.

Neither a road race course nor a Battle Trax course (simply an ultra compact time trial road course) is easily mastered. I've not been able as yet to participate in a Battle Trax, but I can assure you that speeds get well above 20 mph and the skill required to win the time trial twisty course competition is not trivial. It is very telling that one would ridicule Battle Trax.

Troy,
You apparently enjoy track days. Do you actually ever compete in organized motorcycle road racing? If not... I'd say that Battle Trax competitors are walking the talk more so than you. A track day is not a race. I recall one such outing at Oak Hill Raceway where a newbie to the track on his Mille was lapping unimpressively. We were talking later after his chain had broken and I pushed him to the pits. He expressed satisfaction that he was finally able to catch and pass me. I didn't have the heart to tell him that I was on my cool down lap when he did so.

Newfie and Rick_A, as much as my insulting of "cone dodgers" rankled your ire about "don't bash it till you've done it", may I suggest your comment about "anybody" going fast on a closed course is just as bad a generalization? I have never said a Buell isn't a fun bike, what I have said is I can't find anyone local to come out and actually USE the thing to show me both how fun it might be nor demonstrate its ability, or lack thereof, at a local road course.

Obviously, after posting here, I have attracted the attention of people who use their bikes in a manner beyond "cone dodging", which is good. The bad news is most of them are pretty far east of me, and will require a trip east, something I do yearly but have already scheduled my fun and games for. This year its the entire Blue Ridge Parkway, Deals Gap, Dragons Tail, whatever else I can find SW of the park itself, and perhaps a spin through the Adirondacks and places in New England. However, the people mentioning Hallett and MidAmerica aren't very far away, relatively, and sound alot more interesting than "cone dodging" with people who think going fast on an honest road course is something ANYBODY can do. If that were true, I would see more Buell riders out at the local track, doncha think?

Riding slow on tight courses in parking lots around cones, to someone who has spent 14 years doing trackdays on both sides of the country, sounds like nothing more than a way for people who are scared of falling down to minimize damage to their rides. You think dodging cones in a parking lot takes skill? Chase Chuck Sorenson riding an R6 into Turn 5 at Laguna and let me know how much he pulls you by, then you might have a clue as to the difference between a road course and cone dodging in a parking lot.

Admittedly, I never would have even conceived of cone dodging as a way to do a "poor mans trackday", but its appeal is understandable. Just not particularly interesting.

Actually Troy Battletrax takes a great deal of skill if you want to be good at it. Its all about smoothness, you cant have a ham fist & win at it. And Batteltrax is actually very good practice for track or race days. It emphasizes all of the same skills, just at a slower rate. And as far as it being for people who are scared of falling down, nope. Plenty of us do both, they actuall go hand in hand.

I will go 1 further & say that the competetion fostered in a battletrax event is a hell of a lot more intense than on a track day. Its you against the clock & thats it. Trying to beat your buddies time. It also brings people togther & fosters friendships. I have met quite a few guys & gals thru these events that I am proud to call my friends. A number of us competed in our local series last year which consisted of 5 regional events for points & 1 event which was a non points deal.

So far you have been relatively witty & even on the mark with some of your comments, but unless you have actually tried Battletrax & discovered how much fun it is, dont knock it.

Fine Dyna, I will restrain myself from knocking Battletrax until either I do it, or people who I have ridden with or am familiar with does both and can then offer an opinion I find credible. Nothing against you of course, but until you get somebody out and run with them, you never know if you are talking to an enthusiast of middling skill or someone who knows what they are talking about.

I have no doubt cone dodging requires its own brand of "skill", but people stating that ANYBODY can ride a road course quickly has the issues with a real track that I have with cone dodging.

But I can show restraint. However, it is interesting that so far the Buell camp around here seems divided into people I would categorize as what I think of as "typical" Buellers, like the ones I am familiar with over at AMS, and more regular people who do things for fun, do whatever they want with their rides and let the chips fall where they may. I suppose it is possible that even reasonable people ride Buells, a point which I will remember in conversations from here forward.

However, I of course reserve the right to bash as well as I AM bashed, of course.

For the record, I have already invited someone to do one of these "cone dodging" events if for no other reason than to see what the interest is. I realize that just because I can't see it from the outside doesn't mean it isn't there, and may require actually trying out before I dismiss it out of hand as some silly Harley/Buell invented stunt to keep their machines from actually being used hard.
