phew . . .I was lookin at my Ma Duece last night, and thought I'd found a u-joint next to the turn-signal fluid reservoir . . .. .

of course, it turned out to be a CV joint (I'm such a stoop) . . .. .

I recently installed a Baker in my bike. So far its gone about 1000 miles. It shifts slightly better than the stock unit and having a 6th is kind of trick. It is a bit heavier and I seem to sense diminished acceleration since I think the motor now spins more (and heavier) parts. This is a consequence of the new design where the dog teeth are part of an adjacent gear and not the independent dog star of yesteryear.

I think that in the US where speeds max at 80 or so the 6th is a bit tall even with the 26 teeth trans pulley. Perhaps, especially with a stock or mildly modified motor (ca. 100 HP) the set up would work best with a lower secondary ratio. 1st is 2.29 (in the "s" option) versus the 2.69 stock gear. That is about 15% higher. If a 2.5 or 2.6 secondary ratio was used (that would require a chain) overall 1st would be the same as stock and every other gear 15% hotter giving you a 6th rpm at 80 around 4000 rpm and transforming the box into a quasi close ratio unit.

In its present configuration with my 2.52 1st there is marked weakness off the line and an essentially useless 6th unless you are rolling over 80. I do get up there routinely but but for short bursts only otherwise is like playing russian roulette with the cops.
