So, where does this put the payments at with an out the door price to a local customer? XB9S, stock, no extras, prep/freight/local tax/local license included. Just curious.

I'm just window shopping now and wondering how the payments would fit or kill the budget, so it doesn't matter which one responds. Just looking for a number, I'm guessing around $350/month at 36 months (which right now is a budget killer).

MikeJ,
I can't charge you tax since you're from out of state. You'll have to pay that in your state. I came up with about 270.00 per month with 1100.00 down. Figuring 5% tax and lic you'd still only be about 285.00

...just by the XB on a credit card! (i did! got a better rate on my CC than a MC loan)

Bought my Sporty the same way. Bounced the balance around between all the 0% offers, paid it off in a year, and paid about $40 total in interest. You get a clear title straight up, and if you ever default on the card, they can't come take your toys away 'cause a credit card amounts to an unsecured loan (no lean on your title).

Just my two cents!

Hmmm....in that case, with all of the available credit on my cards, that Miata at the Mazda dealer is looking pretty tempting!

I bought my last bike with my VISA card. It worked for me.

Sometimes there is a 2-3% charge for using the credit card though. Still, 0% for six months is hard to beat when you just know that sometime in the next six months there will be another 0% offer for the next six months.

BTW, if new cars can be financed for between 5.5% & 7% why is 9% such a big deal for a Buell?

Just for fun and games, try running some numbers through a payment calculator. The interest rate for a three year loan doesn’t mean squat compared to the purchase price. My advice is to work your fanny off trying to reduce the purchase price and not worry too much about the APR.

Hey Mike...I had Rick run the numbers for me (just window shopping for one more year). He came up with payments of $282/month (not including tax & title). Not too bad. My payments for the S3T were only slightly lower for 5 1/2 years.

I bought my Buell with a credit card, $10,315 no tax as I was takling it out of state and requested the factory origination certificate. Never got more than liabilty for about $90 a year. Some risk but sure beats $4000 in insurance costs over the life of a 4 year loan. The card was 9.9% but I paid the balance in 18 moths.

Extending payments and getting full coverage could end up costing a buyer close to twice the original price of the bike and that's not counting accessories.

0.9% financing should help dealers move some product during the winter months. I made the purchase of a new XB9R today using this plan that I wouldn't have made at this time otherwise. Another key factor in the purchase was the opportunity to demo both the Bolt and Lightning. And let me give credit where it is due. Jim Gannon at Rossiters in Sarasota Florida is an outstanding individual and sales associate. He was instrumental in this and my previous Buell purchases. A big thanks to Rick Rossiter as well. It's great doing business with guys like these.

$10,315 at 0.9% APR for 36 months comes out to $290.52 per mo. Tempting.

Mitchelob:

A touch off topic, but what was the deciding factor for you in buying the 'Bolt over the Lightning? (I haven't ridden the Lightning, so I'm curious)

For my size(6'4" 180lb) the Lightning's ergos were all wrong. The seat was uncomfortable due to the hump and grab strap being too far forward for me. And the bars felt awkward because of their placement too far back. On order for the Bolt is the Buell custom seat(which the demo bike had) and 9S footpegs. These will help my long legs to fit within the frame/tank rails. The reach to the clipons on the 9R fit me perfectly. Both bikes are stunning, the demo ride made it obvious which bike was best for me.

At 6'-4" 230# I guess all I needed was to shuck 50#--I decided on the tubeframe lightning--fits my extra poundage way better.
Too bad I have zero credit rating--maybe after a coupla years I'll be able to get up to my ears in debt like the rest of America!
Very tempting, anyhoo.Nothing better than a garage full of Buells....

Coppertop.
I see you're from Omaha. You should check out some of the stuff going on up here in Waterloo Iowa for next year. Go to Storm Fronts, way towards the bottom click on Waterloo BRAG club thread and check it out.
Just curious, where did you get your S? I like to know these things. Congrats!

PS I have a set of carbon fiber frame protectors that would look sweeet on a S!

Daves,
Will definately try to make it over there in the future. Looks like some good times on tap.

Bought the bike at Frontier HD/Buell in Lincoln. They will be servicing dealer too, since the boys here in Omaha have no idea what customer service means.

I've been eyeing those CF protectors for a while now and think they are calling my name. Maybe after I catch up with my holiday bills. They look sweet on the bolt, but I bet they will be even better on the 9S.

Coppertop,
You should try to make it up for the BattleTrax events in April,July and August. The Ride to Prairrie DuChein is always a good one too. I should have a schedule of track days at Mid America by the end of January.
Let me know when you're ready for the frame protectors. Got a race kit yet?
