My (96 S1)manual calls for between 1-1.25 inches of sag on the rear shock with me on it. Question is: Is this the same for the replacement Showa unit ? The only reason I ask is that I have to bump the preload all the way up to it's limit to get this "ride height" and I'm only about 200 lbs.

I have forwarded info to "Suspension Ed" and instructed him where to go to reply to your needs. He is an engineer for Showa and has worked with our race team for 2 years now. He works with many racing teams, but he is our resident engineer (That is also his title at the MoCo which he works out of) He has done extensive testing with Shawn Higbee(Buell Mo.) on XB9 along with previous models and I hope he becomes a regular member here to answer any and all of your questions!

Hobanbros, does he know who (or where) to get a shock rebuilt (seals leaking)? Thanks

He does that all himself through his business "Trackside Engineering" and you can email him direct off web site www.suspension-ed.com He is a Penske dealer, he does just about any forks or shocks, does allot of motard and roadrace tuning, he lowered my own YZ426F and really is a straight up guy. Very fair prices, he has admitted he is probably too cheap (or maybe he was just saying that as I worked him into the dirt at Daytona). Regardless, he does allot of testing at Talladaga, but if he is in the state (WI) I would think he will be posting soon.

Ken,
The new sag specs are measured from shock-eye to shock-eye. All the Showa shock-eye to shock-eye sag specs are listed at the top of the main Suspension page in the Knowledge Vault.

Shawn Higbee on an XB? Too funny. He was sponsored by the Suzuki dealer I dealt with, who gave me rations of scheet for going Buell. I love it. Good guy Shawn is.
