Glad to hear that Eeeek and company are going to join our little fest. Looking forward to de-stressing the Sportster for ya, Vic!
And after that, you should, apparently, check out the highway from Campbell River to Gold River (on Vancouver Island.) I've never been but it is rated the fourth best road in BC for bikes, according to Destinationhighways.com This book publisher has a new book out for Washington State that I hope Jimmy will bring to show off at SPLASH, but its got some great ideas(i.e. an alternate to the main road through Whidby Island.)(No affiliation, yada, yada). I'll bring my BC Edition for Vic's Island tour planning. I agree with Harve(?) that the run to Tofino is fantastic, although I think you'd find camping hard to get into without advance booking. But a B&B might be possible.

I'm making all the plans I can to hit as many days as possible. I have a race the weekend of July 19-20, so I'll have to be jetting out a little bit early.

After trash talking Buellnuts all last year, he (not surprisingly) spanked me at Border Raid again. So it's just as well that Vik's otherwise engaged. Good luck. But point Snail at the link for Island info. Its a great read.

Paul. Are you doing the Island for the sake of touring or do you epect to find major twisties? If its twisties you're after, you should think about staying on the mainland and doing our Border Raid route, north of Vancouver then east. Corners til you cry for a rest! Details available on request.

ok, back to the top.

anybody know anybody in the general vicinity of Eugene-to-Bend, OR who'd be deranged enough (Michael George, are you listening? ;) ) to house a houseful of road-warriorish Four-Play participants the night of Wednesday July 16th?

i'm taking two weeks off for Laguna, FourPlay, SPLASH, and AfterGlow, and i suggest y'all do the same.

ride to lean,

I simply leave here a day earlier to be there thursday , usually I leave wednesday , take my pick of tasty roads to get there and allow three days traveling. This time I will likely ride south to Missoula then west on the Lewis & Clark Trail thru to Idaho , stopping in Yakima Wa. . Leaving early in the morning allows me time to take in Mt Rainier Nat. Park , then down to Packwood and around St Helen's to ....um "pre scout" the ride and finish "scuffing" my tires in. Looking forward to glug down some beer.

"AfterGlow" was suggested by a Hooligan on another board, kinda ties in with FourPlay, and is the riding that comes after SPLASH, as we all work our back to reality.

afterglow, if i'm not mistaken, is also the, er, um, lovin' that comes after the lovin', if'n ya get my drift...

anyway, for a coupla days after SPLASH i'm gonna visit friends and family in the Puget Sound area, and then take four or five days to twist my way back to Lake Isabella -- Lassen Park is a distinct probability for this segment, as is Yosemite, Tahoe, and Mammoth.

anybody that wants to come with me (uh, get it?) is invited.

Hoser, take some extra time off and i'll show you why i live down here :)

I though afterglow was the feeling of pride after just letting a loud ripper of a fart go in the company of pals , the afterglow being a lingering stench.

Me going Awol is gunna be tough , a week vacation I can do , two weeks off puts me in a permanent vacation condition.

Jim, long time no talk. And Hoser, you too. In fact there are a lot of you "Old Timers" that I've been out of touch with. And I don't care how anybody lables "After glow", I'm looking forward to it. It's been way to long.
Ferris, I might be persuaded to go at least part way south with you. Especially if it includes Yellowstone. It kind of depends on how my summer shapes up. How about some "Fore Glow", have you got a definition for that?

Gumby, Yellowstone (for me, anyway) will have to wait for some other time.

AfterGlow will entail working my way south after my visiting is done up there, and i'll most likely be sticking to the Oregon Casades and California Sierras.

"Fore Glow"? oh geez, can't wait to hear Hoser's definition for THIS one...

OK PEOPLE! It's time to wake up here! Do you have your reservations for SPLASH????? If not "MAKE THEM"! I see that they are doing a roll call on Sac Borg. That is a good idea. Maybe we should get one started here to since not all of us read that site. I need to kinda have an idea of how many people are going to show up. I will be calling the park this next week to see if we will need special permits for larger crowds. Last year we had close to 40. Only 4 months til the big event!
