For those of you that were here during Daytona, at some point you got to meet this lovely dog of mine. I hate to say it, but I need to find a home for him. (No I won't be taking him to the pound) Why? well... with me still in recovery mode, I can't go walk and excercise him like he needs to. He has really outgrown our backyard. When he gets bored he digs up all of Sammie's plants and digs giant holes all over the yard. He is still just as loveable and playful as ever. He still sleeps right at the foot of our bed every night and hangs with me wherever I go in the house. With the ever increasing doctors visits and now physical therapy, etc, Sammie doesn't have the time to chase after me, the dog, the dog poo, etc. We have had all his shots up to date, and had his little testosterone makers taken out. It goes without saying that he is very gentle natured, great with kids and other pets, and house broken. He has a special love for Cataract though! (I'll tell that one later)
That being said.... if anyone on the list would like to have a wonderful 8 month old whatchacallit kind of dog please let me now! This wasn't a decision that came easy, but honestly it is the best thing that I can do for the pooch.
Call me at: 702-300-3248

Btw: I was just released from the back brace! I am doing better but still have yet to really take any steps (without the walker) beyond the ones in the pool. It's ok though.. I am beyond thankful to be where I am at this point as opposed to where the docs thought I would be! I'll no more on the 24th when I make the next ortho appt for new X-rays.

Hope everyone is making use of the beautiful weather!
Nick

To put a face with the name...

Elwood

If I had my house dog-proofed and was ready for a dog (and was closer), I'd have no problems taking him into my house.

Good luck with finding Elwood a new home!

And Nick's continued progress in recovery is always good news!

Glad to hear you are recovering!

I had to go through physical therapy and re-learn how to walk again after an
accident a couple of years ago. I still walk with a cane, and always will.

Keep a good attitude and be sure to keep setting your own goals. I could have
settled for the best they expected me to be able to do, roll around in a wheelchair.
I was not content with that.

After having my pelvis shattered, and cyatic nerve severed paralyzing my left leg,
I was out of the hospital in 6 weeks, using a combo of wheel chair and walker.
physical therapy went on for a few months after that, and I gained more strength in
the muscles controlled by the femoral nerve. I have about 1/4 of my quadriceps-femoris
and a little less than 1/4 of the left hamstring still working. That's enough,
in combination with some abdominal work to throw the hip forward, to walk with.

Don't give up, and don't let them tell you what your limitations are. You tell them
what your capabilities are. I would have never attempted to get on a motorcycle again
if I would have listened to the experts.

1313: Goo to hear from you! Yeah, he needs a puppy proof home. Actually..he just needs someone who can pay LOTS of attention to him. Thanks for that photo, just add about 15 more pounds to him now!

Brian: Man, I am sorry to hear you had to go through all that as well. It in inspiring to know that you beat the doctors as well. It took them three days to tell Sammie that I would even live! Ohh no, I'll never give up and ohh yes, I will ride the Buell again. I make my way to the garage now and manage to at least stand beside her to crank her up every few days now.

By the way...Sammie says hello and hugs to all of ya!
