In the alphabet soup of FL*** that identifies the big boys, what model is BOB?

FLHRI

I'm finding it interesting when in some threads folks are talking about the migration of Cruiser riders looking at and buying the Uly, then Jerry rides a Uly cross country and ends up with the cruiser.

I just find this to be interesting. No commentary, no inference, just interesting.

Some classics just always stay in style:

But inside all of us there is always a little of this:

Some classics just always stay in style:

my first Harley, a '76 Liberty Edition Electra Glide, looked almost identical to this bike, right down to the fishtails.

well said! : )

don't you know it. : (

i traded the '76 for another (newer) Harley, which helps ease the painful memories somewhat, but you only ever have ONE first Harley-Davidson, and that ol' FLH was a sweetheart.

i still have the batwing fairing after all these years. the bike was a "Liberty Edition", in honor of our country's bicentennial, and had custom paint from the factory (jet black with very fine silver metalflake) and a big, colorful eagle across the front of the fairing.

i'll post a couple of pix tonight.

Thanks for the answer and link.

RoadThing, is that guy in the lower photo grazing in that deep grass? I'd love to find one that ran on something cheaper than gas!

Premium just hit $3.00 here in Down East Maine.

Jack, don't I wish it would run on grass! Premium's been $3+ here in Houston for a week or two.

Ferris,

If you never use the front brakes those chrome rotors will stay looking good. I went about nine months once without using front brakes. Sherry Jay went about two years for the record in Iowa. sort of freaks people out when you mention records like that. Careful selection of where to live and where to ride can make all the safety gear useless.

Paul, i'm a front brake lover from way back, and use 'em a BUNCH. i figure a couple hundred more miles and i'll have all the plating worn off the friction surface of the rotors. will be interesting to see what the pads look like at that time...

rt, can you find ME some gas, too??? : )

Man, I need to proofread my posts. I come off like a caveman!

Not quite wild enough, Ferris. The new 'zuki (M109R?) is pretty wild, but too common. I'll want quite and heated grips/seat will be nice, too.

Not really looking, just thinking.

Jerry my neighbor has a 76 FLH. It was orginally owned by a man here that was a shriner. Its black, white seat and white leather bags on it. It has about 8000 miles on it. 3000 of them by my neighbor. He just picked the bike up 2 years ago. I know he'd sell it for the right price. I rode it and I was really enjoying it.

Bicycle? Perish the thought!! Keep buying gas!! You don't want me out of work, do you??

Shoot, I might start taking cross-country rides on borrowed bikes and doing internet photo-documentaries... Think there's room for two of us in that gig?
