so, hammer shows up after work this morning to again try for a proper tps reset(last time the battery was too weak). well i'd say he nailed it, the bike has always had poor throttle response off the bottom (slight hesitation), not anymore! in fact it now makes enough power just off idle to spin a cold tire into a 180 with the eventual highside (great fun). grew up racing motocross and still ride dirt all the time, didn't think a cold tire highside would ever get me (que music from those "people do stupid things" commercials) i'm now in the market for some replacement parts but boy does she run well! enjoy your sunday rides boys! just watch those cold tires, i know i will. | ||

one more thing, full face helmets rock!!!! especially when your head is bouncing off the pavement. could have been a really bad day, have to send a thank you email to kbc, joe rocket, and fieldshier(sp?). | ||

thanks! bruised ribs suck, only hurts when you breath. all in all a very mild low speed wreck. haven't had this since i was a kid racin dirt bikes. | ||

Glad you're okay. Also glad you wore all of your gear even though you were just going for a short ride. Your gear is cheap insurance. A trip to the ER is expensive and painful, especially considering the pain from road rash, and having it scrubbed clean... I did exactly what you were talking about, I sent thank you letters to Arai, Joe Rocket, Sidi etc after I got hit. I have no doubt that my gear saved my life. | ||

Glad to hear you are OK. What tires were you running? I narrowly avoided 2 highsides with cold stock tires. It's a scary experience when your rear tire tries to catch up with your front. | ||

Glad to hear you guys are okay. How is that happening? The rear end is coming around under hard acceleration and then highsides you when it hooks up? I'm still only riding occasionally and my brain is still in the "New England roads are still sandy from winter" mode so I don't get on the throttle much at all unless I pointed straight and have looked at the road too. The only thing that is worse than the sand is trying to get around one of the motorized street sweepers without getting sandblasted. Jack | ||

I saw "high side" and feared seeing a post of having several broken bones etc. Glad to hear you are ok. High sides are scary! You just gave me an idea about the TPS too. My bike is doing the same as yours afte I installed a new muffler. Will be having that checked just to be sure next time I am at the dealer. | ||

I did that the first evening out during the last season only I didn't lose it. Wasn't a good sight to see a bike moving sideways into oncoming traffic, I'm glad the other driver pulled over while I regained my composure. Any fall you walk away from is always a good one. Bike parts can be replaced but body parts are much harder to find........unless E-Bay starts to become a little unethical. | ||

thanks to danbury hd (thank you jeff!) who had all required parts in stock the bike is back up only 24 hrs later! it seems danbury hd is working on some very cool buell events for this year. last years buell day wasn't too shabby either with retired pro racer, rod pink (a current buell xb9 rider) giving a suspension setup and sport riding technique class. i hope it works out as they seem to be making a real effort with their buell business. they must have had 12-15 buells on the floor (every model represented) all prominently displayed with a "goodies" corner. really nice to see! hmmmm, wonder if they'd be willing to pick up ducati/guzzi/ or aprilla and create a serious sport shop. (you gotta believe the target customer for all of these brands overlap). after all who's buying the cvo products now, same people. | ||

hell ya! freakin wants to loop over in first gear. you actually have to climb over the front end to keep it from looping over. FINALLY! truly is a different bike! feels like it's been uncorked! bring the palm pilot though, i think we can still get the initial tip-in cleaner. now i need to ride your bike with the drummer! that thing may be the best sounding bike i've ever heard. still can't get over the difference | ||

shea, forget the dealer, get the software and do it youself(or hook up with someone from badweb who already has it, thanks hammer!). some bikes require some serious fiddle time to get it right(check and recheck, mine floats around a bit). but believe me it's so worth it. | ||

jack, exactly, the rear end comes (first mistake of the day) around to about 90deg and you naturally let go of the throttle (last mistake of the day typically) at which point traction is regained and the bike becomes a siege-gun catapulting you over the bars superman style. howse that for a run-on sentence. 100 percent rider error in my case. 30 degree pavement + 30 degree tire + exuberant idiot behind the bars = hammer has a good story for work the next day! | ||

Your welcome Mike!  I am glad we were able to help you get back up on 2 wheels so quickly. Thank you for taking the time to come down and visit. It really means a lot to us when people drive / ride from so far away. Do you remember that thing you asked me to get for you while you were here? I will be sending it out to you via UPS today. thanks jeff, hammer will definitely be pleased as he now has a garage for his bike (used to keep it in the kitchen!). i'll actually be back down as i bought the wrong size shirt for my wife and totally forgot to pick-up oil change supplies. probably see ya on monday. how about that guzzi, aprilia, ducati idea??? hd danbury owners are pretty big sport-bike fans if i remember correctly. | ||

alright guys, anybody hear know about bruised vs broken or cracked ribs? no swelling, not too sensitive to touch, but i can't raise my arm past my shoulder, take a deep breath or make quick movements at all. yesterday i had to use my left hand to put the keys in the ignition. just wondering as i have a physical job and i'm trying to figure out how long these things take to heal? | ||

I had broken ribs - not displaced among other damage. Took about a week or two to be able to take a full breath without having to think about it (had a couple of chipped vertebra too - long story). There's usually a fair amount of bruising and soreness at work too. There's nothing they can do for the ribs unless surgery is called for. They don't tape you up any more the way they used to. If you have no other symptoms, I'd be tempted to wait it out since you're still pretty close to having just been injured. Usual disclaimer: I'm not giving medical advice. thanx, i own a seamless gutter business so work has been a bit of a "challenge". glad to hear it was only a week before you could breath, i find i'm winded really easy due to shallow breaths, not cool. i'm real thankful now for my really good helper as i feel about as strong as my grandmother! | ||
