Just received my May/June issue of Motorcycle Classics. In it is an article "American Hot Rod, Buell's Rockin' RS1200". A write up about and a test of the bike.

Just thought I would share.

saw the bike...looks like it has a recall shock. the author sounded like the shock was stock. I believe the shock on this model showed the springs. REX

Mine came with a covered shock. Henry Duga said he welded them.

For an RS it would depend upon the year. Earlier bikes (before '91) had a covered shock. I thought '91's and up had an exposed spring WP similar to the S2's OE part, but Rich's profile shows he has a '91...

Can't really tell from these pics from Daytona...

Depends on the year. earlier ones had an enclosed shock, later exposed spring.

I think its the other way around
Early ones had the exposed spring
Later ones had the enclosed spring
This is an I think answer

When they did the shock recall, I called them.

They didn't want to hear it.

Mine is a '91. #43

To all concerned parties-

I picked up an issue of the magazine in question tonight and the bike is equipped exactly like the RS 1200 on the old Buell 'Passion' poster. Marzocchi (sp?) front forks and a covered can rear shock.

Maybe '92 is when the WP rear shocks started...I'll have to check out my old factory pics, but since I never kept track of the dates of the pictures we may never know for sure...

Lee Harvey Oswald suite - good one! Actually it is from inside the Daytona grandstands near where part of the Buell contingent spectated this years Daytona 200.
