A month or so ago, I posted a message on the Storm Fronts page that inquired about interest in starting a BRAG chapter in the Memphis, TN area. I didn't get any response on it, so I thought I'd mention it here where there is a bit more visibility, hopefully. I have contacted Bumpus (local HD/Buell dealer) and the GM is apparently interested.

If not a BRAG chapter, is there at least anyone in the area that is interested in getting together for a ride? I'm new to motorcycling and would enjoy hooking up with other Buellers.

Dan

Dan...If you don't get any response from the Buell specific riders in your area here is another resource for you...If you join up with these guys be forewarned that some of them are VERY street fast so ride within yourself...A few of them ride too fast on the street to suit me in that I feel they outride their eyes...But if you can discipline yourself they are a great bunch...

"The Mid-South Sport Riders is a Memphis based sport bike club. We are chartered in Tennessee as a non-profit organization and are also chartered with the American Motorcyclist Association. Our primary interests are sport riding, sport touring, and sanctioned road racing. We are devoted to the safe enjoyment of motorcycling. We are not brand or style specific and welcome anyone that enjoys the freedom of the road that comes from riding a motorcycle.

We sponsor/offer a variety of motorcycling activities that should appeal to the enthusiast in you:

- Regular Sunday and Saturday morning rides year-round (weather permitting) in rural Shelby County.

Currently meeting on Sunday morning, 9:00am at the McDonalds/Texaco near the Canada Rd I-40 exit. Alternate ride time is 1:00pm if weather is poor at early ride time and then gets better. The Saturday ride is at 10:00 at the same location. The AARP ride continues to meet at 1:30 at the corner of Poplar and Houston Levee near the Huey's parking lot.

- Several trips scheduled each year to the Ozarks area in Arkansas and Deal's Gap area of East Tennessee.

We generally log 300 to 500 miles per day on twisty roads. These are weekend or extended weekend trips.

- Open track practice at the Memphis International Motorsports Park.

If you'd like to try your bike out in a more controlled environment this is the way to do it.

- Regular monthly club meeting.

Currently meeting at 7:00pm on the second Wednesday of the month Pappy and Jimmy's at Summer Ave(hwy 70) and I-240.

We meet to discuss and vote on club business, review past rides, and plan future rides and events.

This contains meeting minutes, upcoming events, reviews of past events, member submitted articles, classified ads, and anything that pertains to the club.

- Discounts at most major motorcycle dealerships in the Memphis area.

- Other social activities that are another excuse to get together to talk about motorcycling.

- Other events.

This would include any type of motorcycling event. We are frequently invited by the Memphis Motorcycle Club to participate in some of their events. Call other MSSR members to see if they want to ride! Plan an extended Sunday ride and see if anyone else wants to participate. You just might have some takers!

In addition, we try to keep track of other club's track practice events, racing events, and try to meet up with other clubs for weekend rides."

See Ya!

Bob

I am in Collierville which is next to memphis. I belong to and have ridden with MSSR. These are a great bunch of folks. But some of the rides, the Sunday morning ride in particular can be very aggressive. The Sat morning and especially the afternoon ride (AARP) are more to my speed. If you follow the link to the bulliten board and post a message these guys will respond. Now about a Brag chapter. I have had so many problems with Bumpas that I would be recultant to participate in anything that they put togather. Even if they paid me. But that is just me.

Budo,

Sorry about your experience with Bumpus, so far I've never had a bad one, even though I bought my Blast out of state. Nor have I heard too many complaints, so hopefully you are the exception, not the rule.

Anyway, I'll lookup the MSSR Sat. rides, that sounds interesting. I think I've seen them out, since I live in Tipton Co. and travel thru Northern Shelby Co. alot.

Also, I spoke with the GM at Bumpus and he's definately interested in putting together a BRAG chapter. If any others are out there so inclined, drop a call or email (keith.gilooly@bumpusharleydavidson.com) to Keith Gilooly @ Bumpus and let him know.

See you on the road
