My X1 is starting to surge a bit at low rpms+low throttle settings.

This is the type of thing that a TPS resetting would clear up.
I would have to reset the tps settings if I replaced the TPS.

You folks think I should buy a new TPS and then have it reset, or do you think I should keep the 64000 mile one?

P.S. If they cost $900 I will be keeping my old one!!

I would say that the TPS can and will wear out eventually just like any other electro-mechanical device.

I'd look for one off a totalled bike. As long as its in good shape with no indication of wear it should be ok. I would also say you can check the resistance on them as well.

They're just potentiometers, right?

Why would I want to replace the whole throttle body?

OG throttle bodies snapped throttle shafts (say THAT 5 times fast!) now and again -- not alla time, but not uncommon either

It fixed itself when I got gas!
I got a bad tank I guess.

Just for the record, I got gas in Dudley MA, by Nichols.

It would seem as though the seal would go fist I guess.
Since I work in an instrumentation lab and tweak potentiometers all day, I went there first.
All I could think of was every tiny movement in the throttle... well you know.

I'll try the WD40 on the intake trick sometime.
