Thank you Cyclerama for bringing new life to my 2000 X-1!
Since I purchased the bike August third, 2002 (used from the local Buell dealer) I have enjoyed every RUNNING moment on the bike. Quite a few UNRUNNING moments have strived to mar the joy--but the JOY is back!

Numerous trips to the two Buell shops in my area (Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach) have often proved a frustrating waste of time/money due(IMHO) to their lack of desire to provide topnotch service/lack of expertise with DDFI on the X-1.

When I heard about Cyclerama (here on Badweb) I gave them a call and (one of the times the bike was running right) had them Dynotune the bike a while back and make a custom map for my PowerCommander. At that time I was getting about 86.7 RWHP and their tuning bumped up the entire curve--right up to the 6800rpm mark--where my base pull number was about 1 hp lower.

Even though the peak level of HP didn't change I gained 9HP from my lowest basepull area (around 3500-4200--the meat&potatoes zone) and at least 5HP from 2700-5400.

About 4000 miles later a variety of things began to cause drivability issues--the tranny would pop out of second and re-engage even on moderate accelleration--the engine used about a quart of oil every 600 miles--then a leak around the base gaskets developed.

Having lost faith in the local Buell techs--I carried the bike back to Cyclerama since they were agreeable to doing extended warranty work.

As soon as I gave them the go ahead they worked up an estimate--got the insurance people online with the tranny rebuild--and completed the rebuild of tranny and topend ASAP. And they stuck to their estimate! NO hidden charges, unexpected BS (ala my dealership).

On the dyno the bike now shows a 7RWHP throughout the range of the pull--that's nearly 96RWHP--which is what I was expecting from my bike/mods.

The tranny shifts unlike anything I was expecting--NO missed shifts--precise/quiet/secure. I can stop worrying about the shifts and focus on the curves :D .

I have just now finished the break-in miles/changed the oil/filter and am halfway out the door as I type this for a substantial ride--just wanted to post this so any considering service options other than HD can know there is a topnotch shop that will do warranty work on your Buell in Pinellas Park, Florida!

See you on the road....

I can :)

They were wonderful, wise, generous and selflessly did whatever was ask, added innovation and consistently aspired to and delivered performance beyond our expectations.

That close?

Oh yeah...and Pammy swears.

The Buell community is rich with folks who possess integriy, brains and the ability to make your Buell go "zoom-zoom".

Watch for exciting things coming....

How about with in 50 miles of Phila?

Maybe 100 miles?

Anony or Pammy...

I have the same tranny problem, and am getting ready to tear it down. Assuming I need new second and third gear, not sure if I will need new shifter fork or not. Do you have a list of what was replaced? I know it may not be verbatim what I will need, but it would be a good data point.

We may have the worst bunch of national dealers (then again, we may not), but between the Nallin/Wilson combo, and Cyclerama, I can't imagine a better set of folks for performance upgrade work. It's gonna make it a lot easier to deal with when my top end finally gets worn out... just time for that performance upgrade!

Reep, It was 2 gears, 3 shift forks and the shift drum if I remember correctly. I am home now so I can't give you prices...seems like the gears were about $60 each and the shift forks were about $28 each. The shift drum, I can't remember at all. E-mail me and I can get you the prices tomorrow.
It doesn't take long for the gears to eat into the shift forks.

As far as abusing the Anon priviledge (with which I disagree)I posted Anon because of various long and drawn out dealings with Buell and despite help from Court felt Buell came up short. Since these posts are oftentimes read by these Buell folks I felt the info could be passed along without ADMIN pointing out from where the info came.

I realize you may have your reasons for unveiling Anons (such as flaming/character assassins, etc) but when I post Anon--just because the Administrator doesn't fathom why doesn't mean Admin must fathom why, now does it? Therefore unmasking my Anon post seems like a petty "power-over" a plebe such as I--which is to me at least somewhat annoying.

Doublespacing paragraphs--hmmm? What's next? Spell check? Gimmee a break....

An anonymous endorsement is meaningless, and your paranoia is well, ridiculously paranoid.

If you don't hit "Enter" twice, all the paragraphs run together as in your first post, before I edited it. You are welcome for the editing. The BBS provides a spell check utility should you wish to use it. It is entirely up to you. Posting anonymously is not. That function is reserved for those, well known to me, who have a VALID reason for using the anonymous function. If I do not perceive the use of the anon function as valid, guess what? It is not valid. You gave no heads up nor no reason within your post to justify an anony post. This policy MUST be black and white with no gray area. I and others have grown tired of the abuse of the anonymous option. Such abuse detracts from the integrity of the forum.

Sorry you had to find out the hard way. Suggest you grow a spine.

Otherwise, great post and thanks very much for sharing. You are a valuable member of the BadWeB community and I hope this incident does not sour you on continued participation.

Best regards,

Blake

==================================================

So what? We all know they read the boards, hell they have heard myself go on rants for days on end. Big deal, doesnt really make any damn difference, Obviously you arent having your bike fixed by an "official Harley/Buell" mechanic anymore so what do you care what Buell thinks about where you go???

Too bad I didnt live near Florida, guarantee you that I wouldnt have had all the problems with my bike then. Much rather have cyclerama work on it, then some of the hack buell monkey mechanics out there.

I've seen the tape Dyna, I had to stand up for you to keep them from kicking in your door in the middle of the night! hahahahahahahaha!!!!

As for Cyclerama, they are great people! Pammy really blew my parts Mgr away at our get together in Florida. He couldn't believe how knowledgeable she was!! I just smiled and said, yeah that's Pammy! He was telling my boss all about it. By the way Pammy, if you ever wanted to move to Iowa(fat chance) you have a job waiting for you!

I thought it was a black primered van driven driven by two bearded dudes in leather vests with two big guys and a little skinny guy in the back. I knew they had a black whisperbird at one point, but thought when the stock market took a dive so did their whisperbird. They do still all wear those lineman's boots with the chrome rings on the ankles though so you can see where they are at night on your lawn. Helps the aim some. ;)

And actually, Dyna, depending on what happens, you could send your X1 down to Florida if you get it back and have them dual-carb it especially for the 100th. Drag pipes on a dynaglide might sound nice at times, but a 2into1 megaphone on a hogged out and internally cleaned 1349cc X1 would sound so much better. Plus you just know it would make you smile more, especially doing a smoker down Water street in August. Not to mention reverberating the neighbors at the B-Trax events this summer.

MikeJ (Thinking about ordering some extra ear plugs so I can get some sleep late summer around here.)

She's got a lifelong job, she speaks for Wes. I met him once, nice guy, awful quiet for a fart smeller. Love ya both. We need ya out here in Bueller Land!

Without people like you and Nallin and AW and Court and a whole lotta others on this board and that crazy SacBorg and that other one out East, why this pastime would not be very rewarding. Hey, did I see Timmy2Shoes shoot through here real fast the other day? He don't know it but his prose about his love/hate relationship with his S1 finally sent me over the edge and I bought a Buell 2 1/2 years ago. Best thing I ever did, even if my wife still says I look ridiculous on it. Where is this going? I guess I just wanted to say thanx to all of you who have helped me keep this crazy bike running. The community is almost as important as the machine.

Daves, Thank you for the kind words...and the job offer. Hmmm, maybe I can get a raise...I can't even tolerate the cold around HERE!(do they have motorcycle shops in Honduras?)

Don't be too hard on Storm. He's a truly nice guy.

Blake and Warren are some of the nicest folks I know. You guys would get along better in person.

Dyna, wish we could help you out with your bike problem. If I hadn't already given away the parts off my bike, I would surely donate them to the X1 revival, you need to happen over your way. If you are ever down here, you can take my bike for a spin. She should be a real hoot when she's done.

Mike J...we can make it sound BAD with 1 carb. Did I tell ya about the time I won a trophy when I pulled into a 'Cruiser' type bike show? They debated on giving me the 'best import' trophy. After some 'splainin' that this bike is of Good old U.S. of A. origin, I heard, "I knew that sound couldn't a come from a jap bike". And I brought the trophy home...course Wes has the 'real' trophies.

Geez, what a bunch of crap. "abusers of the anon function" unite! Perhaps your experiences moderating this board have given you, Blake, a different perspective on the results of anon posts, but I fail to see the benefits in this case. In addition, Stormfool is at least somewhat of a "regular", and deserves more respect than a suggestion that he grow a spine. In the amount of time since his post, you could probably have contacted him via email off-board to see if you felt his post deserved anon treatment or otherwise, and then acted accordingly.

Ben, expecting some witty rebuttal about the size of my personal parts or spine calcium content.

For calcium content drink milk, :)
For size of personal parts I can foreward you a bunch of SPAM about how to cure that. ;) (Don't know the details, I just bounce them back to the source and elsewhere to cause SPAMMERS grief, then delete the offending messages.)
As far as sensitivity goes, sometimes abundance of abuse causes some over reaction to lighter abuse. ;) ;) ;) :)

This is supposed to be fun, we all need to ride more, I know at least that I do. Thinking of ice-studding the Buell tires, but the ice will be gone by the time I'd finish putting in a few thousand screws. :)

I swear I just saw the black van cruise my cul de sac. My night vision's kinda bad but they had the look. Never got a good close-up on the boots.

Unfortunately I pawned the IR goggles for Buell accessories a while back. All I got for a perimeter is some thorny beaugonvillea and a friendly dog.

I guess I will just have to get some riding in while I can...

I wonder if they have infrared heat detectors in that Buell chopper? You think they can read our minds yet? I heard they were actually thinking of hiring Miss Cleo to read the average mind of a badweb regular in order to come up with their newest bike.

Please please pick me Miss cleo:D

They don't have to read our minds, we type everything we think, they can just read it here. Plus during the interview Miss Cleo fell off the back of the bike when Willie was giving her a ride and was trying to explain torque. She immediately got on a passing bus and hasn't gone near Juneau Anenue since. The plant there did receive a mysterious dead rubber chicken in the mail the following day but they don't think it's related. But to be on the safe side H-D sent the dead rubber chicken to the Total Information Awareness division of DigDaddy to see if those folks can learn anything more about it. As a side note the dead rubber chicken had a plastic egg shoved up it's rump full of silly putty, and when last seen the silly putty was in Willie's hands and he was lifting images of Harley comics and stretching the silly putty image into new forthcoming designs. As a sign of goodwill H-D did send Miss Cleo a $50 gift certificate good at any participating dealership towards regularly priced items in stock just in case the dead rubber chicken came from her because Willie is really enjoying playing with the silly putty.
(Rumor has it that the 2004 edition of the V-Rod will be called the VS-Prod (V_Silly-PuttyRod) and is rumored to have a 79" wheelbase and a 14 gallon gas tank, and you must be 7'9" tall to reach the handlebars.)

Well I haven't seen the van in two days--either they are toying with me to lull me into a false sense of confidence, or they've bigger fish to fry.

Beautiful night for a ride here in S. FL. Crescent moon, clear sky, no Highway Patrol in sight. It was hard to break the moment and head back home....
