All . . .having, once again, been tricked into producing my chapter's newsletter (they wave a beer at me!), I wonder if there are others in a similar situation that would like to exchange tips, ideas, stories and the like . . . . also, I understand that copies of the rag are to be sent to BRAG national . . . . anyone know if e-copies are acceptable? thanks |

NO. All copies must be delivered in person. They also must be in triplicate & leather bound with gold leafing on the spine. |

I temporarily dodged that bullet so far so I don't have a clue. Supposedly there is a chapter manual in print available to chapter members. There is also some sort of training program available through either Harley or Buell to help train chapter leaders in how to run their local chapter. I don't know the costs or any other information on this. Dennis stated he is going to the training class, but since he's now on vacation someone else will have to answer on that aspect. I'm fairly certain in the laws and bylaws of the BRAG chapter handbook there are details on newsletter format, content, and who needs to get a copy besides the chapter membership. Getting ahold of this handbook apparently is a secret process and nobody has shown me the secret handshake. It would be nice if it was available as a live-link on the Buell site, but I haven't found it yet, nor have I looked too indepth on the H.O.G. site for their rendition of same. |

Funny you mentioned the secret handshake deal. Im not thinking real clearly right now, getting tired so i will deal with this later. Has to do with clandestine HOG meetings, memberships, $$$, etc. Big ole racket going on. |

Mike . . . . I've seen the handbook (please don't tell anyone), and it does state that national wants a copy . . . . I don't remember the transmittal method, though, if I saw it . . . . Dyna exaggerated, once again, as it only has to be bound in leatherette! there IS training, and it's free (up to 4 officers per chapter), but ya gotta get to the ttraining, and house yerself, I believe . . . . they train you (!) and feed you . . . . |

"they train you (!) and feed you . . . . " Why did this phrase just give me a mental image of a bear in a cage at the Milwaukee zoo being thrown peanuts????? Pavlov, did he own a Harley? (quickly removing any chance of my ever getting elected to any official position, or of ever getting hired by the big Black&Orange machine, or by even the Blue one.) |

No, but I believe his dog did ride a Schwinn stingray with tassles on the handlebars. |

Bomber, The charter says that all copies of news letters should be sent to BRAG, but not how so I think a electronic version might be fine. Just call them up and ask. The phone number on your BRAG card will work. |

Being the local HOG director (imagine a Buell Owner being a HOG director), you do have to submit certain things. I also can't see the BRAG handbook being any different from the HOG Book with respect to the Rules. Give BRAG/HOG a call to see if e copies are acceptable, if not I am sure a fax copy will do. |

Use the newsletter as the conduit between the Dealer and the Buell Owners in the club, get someone from the dealership to mention service specials, recall/service bulletin information, dealer events, etc. Get them involved and they will help you. From your end, get the Brag Members to volunteer at dealership events and suggest things that you want the dealer to help you with. |
