I am from Southern Maine, but I have a friend in Totonto who sends me Canadian humor on occasion.

Lgpch,

I see your a lifeguard, try the icy North Atlantic where the water temperature hovers around 1 degree celsius. A couple minutes in that water and yer toast - well frozen toast. As for North Swells here is one of a supply vessel off the Gravity Base Oil Drilling Structure

rigwave

In the summer the water is not much warmer, last year I decided to try to swim in the ocean near my folks place where there is a sandy beach, I got up to my knees and the water was so damm cold I swear my bones hurt.

Arbalest,

Check the Storm Fronts as I am planning a trip to Detroit to meet up with Spidey and the boys for a Hooters Party which is gonna take me through Toronto and area. I will be in Halifax, NS for the Atlantic Regional Rally then heading from there. Your more than welcome to join in.

I love Newfie & Canadian Humor, If you can't laugh at yourself who can you laugh at.

I'll check the Storm Fronts. I also really like Maine humor. If you've never been exposed to Maine humor, it can sound a little strange. Check the internet for "Bert and I" or Tim Sample, for some examples. Here is a short example by Kendall Morse: "I was standing outside Helens Restaurant in Machias Maine, talking to Uriah Boardman. Uriah is into his 90s now, and quite bald. While we were talking, a sea gull flew over and dropped a mess right on top of Uriahs bald head. He just stood there looking numb, he's good at that, and I said "You stand right here, and I'll go get some toilet paper." Uriah says "What for? By the time you get back with it that gull will be a mile away"!"

Thats sounds very similar to our humor, One of the funniest movies I have seen this past year is "Rare Birds" starring Andy Jones (local actor), William Hurt and Molly Parker. It was actually shot at Cape Spear, Newfoundland (considered to be the most easterly point in North America) and is one of the best I have seen in a long time. There is a link to a website Rare Birds

If you can find it at your local movie store its worth watching.

Fucking Florida drivers...these two fucks...not one but two...both minivans...shot across the road directly in my path...one in front of the other...while I was doing 60 today. I've never braked so hard in my life. No wonder it hasn't even been a year and my new front brake is already almost roasted. People have no respect.

Newfie,

The only problem is if it is COLD I want snow. At least you can ski, mush or snowmobile. Why the hell have you not bought a snowmobile? Are you Canadian or something ? ;)

Charlotte,

I am first a Newfie, then a Canadian seeing we were bamboozled into confederation with Canada. I believe we should have either started our own country or joined the US. If we did that no government would be raping our natural rescources.

I had a choice this year for a new toy.

1. 1999 Buell Billet Metallic S3
2. Real fast blow your mind snowmobile of some kind.
3. New Family Mini-Van seeing we have 4 young children

And the winner was a shiney 2000 Fully Loaded Ford Windstar seeing the bloody transmission gave out in my 10yr old Pontiac Transport and the cost to have it repaired was almost as much as it was worth. I believe in cutting your losses before you get too deep.

So on top of the approximately 40cm or so of snow I have had dumped on me this past week, I had to deal with losing out on getting a new toy. I will have to wait another year for my S3 or if I find a good deal on a S2. And yes when I think about it I get in a real crappy mood. Second choice was the S3 and third was the snowmobile.

If you like snow this is the place to be this year. The ski hills on the west coast of the island are booming.

SO THERES my RANT

And now for a good joke.

Newfoundlander -vs- Taliban

A large group of Taliban soldiers are moving down a road when they hear a voice call from behind a sand dune.

"One Newfoundland soldier is better than 10 Taliban." The Taliban commander quickly sends 10 of his best soldiers over the dune, where a gun-battle breaks out and continues for a few minutes, then ....... silence.

The voice then calls out: "One Newfoundland soldier is better than 100 Taliban." Furious, the Taliban commander sends his next best 100 troops over the dune and instantly a huge gunfight commences. After 10 minutes of battle, again ...... silence.

The Newfoundland voice calls out again: "One Newfoundland soldier is better than 1000 Taliban." The enraged Taliban Commander musters 1000 fighters and sends them across the dune. Cannon, rocket and machinegun fire ring out as a huge battle is fought. Then....... silence.

Eventually one wounded Taliban fighter crawls back over the dune, and with his dying words, tells his commander:

"Don't send any more men, it's a trap ....... There's two of them."

Hey Ken,

Thats like it being so cold your outdoors and you take it out to pee and it freezes in an arc shape (the pee) before it hits the ground.

Now for a Curse, Damm, poop and any others to be thrown in here. Forecast - 20-30cm starting at dawn tomorrow morning - looks like another snow day. Already about 350cm on the ground now.

Being from Alaska, I remember breathing, and seeing snow fall from my breath. I won't be able to ride until next week! So damn COLD! I guess that's a good thing, since I've replaced my exhaust, but don't have the new jets yet. "Always look on the bright side of life!" (Fuck off, Monty Python!)

I just walked out to my car to retrieve my safety glasses, didn't put my coat on, just a short sleeve shirt (and pants and shoes). No less than three people said I was nuts. I just smiled and said it's nice out there, and it's only a short walk to the car. Winter is a state of mind, a single digit state of mind, but still ....

Gee Ken calm down a little.

I pity them for being so short sighted.

I am sure there are horror stories about other bikes but I don't go around looking for them and posting on the net. Obviously these people have way too much time on their hands with nothing better to do.

Those guys are idiots! They went to epinions.com and picked the worst ratings. The Firebolt had 6 reviews. Four were 5-star, one was 4-star, and the review they chose was the 1-star. Funny--the 1-star review said it was vibrating his teeth out. Another review says it doesn't shake as much as other Buells. "This is a Buell?" was the heading of that 5-star review. I especially like the part where the reviewer said the Blast! couldn't go on the freeway. I'll remember that next time I'm cruising 15MPH over the speed limit on our local freeway, watching for cops... What a bunch of dorks!

Hello All,

My car died yesterday. That was kind of interesting. Never in my life have I had that happen before. Just because it was -30 degrees up here on Wednesday night and I live on top of a hill above a 5000 acre lake?

Now I have a block heater on the Saturn and it fired right up this morning. Only down side is, now I am back at work. Too much work and too little time !

Charlotte
PS If you can ride your bike up here I will give you a free ?@*& !!! Ha ha ha ha ha ;) Just kidding.
