Looks like a pain in the tush to do a wheelie or drag a knee in..........

Not my style but looks to be a fine example of a road toy. I am more of a lotus Exige or a WRX STI guy. my wallet is more of a used geo metro guy........

It looks fast. NICE! I like that you don't have alot of stuff hanging off of it (like a wing). Classy.

Wow, never seen an Avenger done up like that..adn I saw a few of them when I worked for Chrysler....

Anyway, not MY style..BUT

Clean, unique, good stance... which, makes it a nice ride.. its not gaudy, too low, too high, big stupid wing... now, just gotta hear it....(both stereo, AND which ever engine you have)...

BTW, clean and unique are 2 things that are becoming rare in teh car/truck/bike world, IN CASE no one has noticed...

Talking about cars, I am trying to buy two at present and my disdain is elevating for car dealers and trying to get an "apples to apples" deal.

Anyone here a car dealer?

I'm about to buy a bicycle!

I've actually been looking for a Paramount. . . but, in the meantime, I need wheels.

: )

Ever REALLY figured out what to pay for a car?

To me a bicycle is wheels. ;) Some years moreso than others.

I currently get a Supplier Discount, price is already set before I get there, of course my wallet is already empty before I leave the house but that's a different matter.

If I'm really into the shopping aspect I'll shop national ads, hit web pages of major newspapers for dealership ads, then shop locally for stock inventory. There's always a car somebody ordered then backed out of the deal for, so there's often a fully loaded model sitting there for a lower level pricepoint.

What are you shopping for? New/used, brands, models, options, .... If you want apples to apples comparisons we need to know what orchard you're picking from.

Ever REALLY figured out what to pay for a car?

Consumer Reports sell a car buying kit, which supposedly includes dealer cost of cars as well as MSRP, standard fees etc. etc. That ought to give you an idea of what you're dealing with. That said, I haven't seen what they're selling, but I usually find CR to be trustworthy.

Court,
This works for me: www.carbuyingtips.com

I've felt that I had gotten a very fair deal from dealers on my last three cars.

My new car is getting loaded on a boat at Bremerhaven today. About 4 more weeks, can't wait.

I like Edmunds.com, kbb.com and dealers with email addresses.

MikeJ - did you make that kayak? if so, or if not, please tell me more about it.

Mike, it's a CLC Stitch & glue kit from Chesapeake Light Craft in Maryland. Great kit, awesome folks to deal with and only took me about 100 hours to build. Granted 30 or so hours of that was spent staring at it and touching it. Alone. In the dark. It handles awesome and carries a good amount of stuff for expeditioning. I want to try a Pygmy next from Seattle area. Try these links...

I've become attached to my Element -- I never thought it would happen. I like it better and better everyday. Ultra functional is the best way to describe it. 4 full grown passengers isn't a problem and you can move the rear seats and have quite a bit of room to haul 'stuff' around. Pre-wired for iPod, XM/Sirrus, MP3, whatever.

Roller skate? Yep,,,have to agree.

Bigdaddy the truck/skate would be much, much better if they/Honda would have done something with the suspension on it for a smoother ride.

Kdan,
I wondered if it was a CLC design. A local guy here at a place I worked at several years ago built up one of the smaller Pygmy kayaks and was extremely happy with it.

I've got to get my stripbuilt canoe built this summer, but I'm changing the form lines and probably need to just cut new forms from scratch as the existing ones never looked right each time I'd staple a few strips to them. I'm thinking I might just do up a row boat instead.

Nice rack in your garage there, gives me some ideas. Thanks.

Dana, Agreed! The ride isn't impressive and gets kind of annoying if you're road-tripping in it. They could've also put a bigger freaking gas tank in the thing too!

I also have an Element, I am not to bothered by the ride or the gas tank, I would like a bit more stomp- turbo V6 or something ?

I'm getting close for tires so I think I'm going to go one size up and see if that may help the ride. Buelluk you can get a turbo for it. Theres a huge after market for Honda. Turbo's,exhausts, you name it and still keep it emissions legal.

I have a toaster oven too! Love it...but the power sucks. My little VW golf grocery getter has more power than the Element.
Would love to see a bit more power or a hybrid option in it.

The Element is perfect for what I need it for and I have the 5spd, so I never felt like it doesn't have enough power. I got an 03 'stripper' and did my own options.
Dana, I put on 225/70-16's. The first set I got some aggressive tread Kelly's which were loud and gnarly for almost 40k miles. I just got some Bridgestone Duellers and lemme tell you what! Big difference.
MikeJ - Strip boats are beautiful. I wish I could make that kind of commitment!

Any of you Element owners interested, the Element Owners Club is pretty cool. A lotta whiny Prima Donnas, but some good tips, links and suggestions. www.elementowners.com It would be best if you didn't tell them you "know" me!
